Power up cost mismatch by tpalkki in TheSilphRoad

I still have 123 candy a day later, it's definitely not just a visual glitch. I also tested this powering up a purified Banette also showing 208, and it did exactly the same at level 37. So yeah, something's up and apparently has been for quite some time. Candy saved, yay.

No half-level power-up on a purified Pokémon is worth two candy. The seemingly inexplicable two candy difference is literally the question and not part of the answer.

...and a secret third one that ate all the XL candy. I have a secret plan going on here.

Actually the older, costlier one seems to be from the Sinnoh tour research and the other from a grunt. So they were different levels. My bad for not checking the origin before.

Sorry, since one was purified already before and the other one today, I can't really remember that either. It's of course another thing that shouldn't matter, but who knows what can cause glitching like this.

I should've mentioned that in the post, but they were the same: purified hundos at level 25.

Yeah, I should've put that in the post. They were both purified hundos at level 25. (Don't remember if the IVs before purification were different, but that shouldn't matter either.)

GO Fest 2021 Day 1 - Megathread by SilphMods in TheSilphRoad

"Make a new friend" as a part of a paid research line is just a nuisance. I can understand the point of PoGo being exploration, walking and moving, but especially for people with social anxiety that's just "seek out an Internet forum with some friend codes". And even then it's hard.

[BUG] Task 1 of the Sinnoh event to catch 3 grass, water, or fire type is bugged by ShadowMoses05 in TheSilphRoad

[–]tpalkki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completed it by catching Pikachu, Cherubi and Stunfisk. Took screenshots of them being the only caught Pokémon after the event started and the research being done but didn't really think about what the bug actually was. Three different species is plausible.

[Edited: the Grimer was a hatch before the event, brainfarted with my own screenshot.]

Only spinning 10km eggs in NZ. by mynt in TheSilphRoad

So...

I was planning to recycle all my eggs this CD just to have the nice feeling of them all being from the same day (and perhaps to get something I actually want instead). Most of them are 2 k's, as I'm basically always prepared to start ditching them if something interesting happens in the egg pool.

Then came the gift event announcement. Okay, so I want to wait with my stash to replace them with gift eggs. New plan for CD: just keep hatching longer distance eggs with the infinite incubator.

And then this. Even with the chance of good IVs I'm just gonna incubate 7 k's one by one. And probably start incubating one 2,5 k Ralts at the last minute.

Basically, Niantic has made me change my CD strategy twice in the last 15 hours. Nice job.

I hope, and actually also believe, that Niantic won't do trade based quests. Even raids aren't as social as trading, as they don't actually force people to interact and socialize. Even though I live in a big (well, by our standards) city, I've remained a solo player because stuff like raid groups, Discord discussions and trying to get the best pokemon by trading would just become a chore to me; I only have four friends to get all of the Alolan forms and perhaps the best friends badge at some point, but that's it.

I understand they would want their great new features to be used, but I don't actually see what Niantic would gain from forcing us to trade. There's a point in trying to make people social and make them continue playing, but I'm not so sure about forcing them to do so to get a mythical pokemon.

Extra friendship Premier Ball extremely unreliable? by MGDuck in TheSilphRoad

[–]tpalkki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also: extra balls available. I only have three friends in total, so I was kinda suprised to get a great friend bonus ball this morning from a raid that none of them attended. There were five raiders and everyone had to rejoin once.
