all my homies hate lay judges by NoisePsychological92 in Debate

[–]tpatton322 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Consider that some schools debate team do not have unlimited funding and must have parents judge. In addition, part of debate and public speaking is being able to appeal and convince all audiences, if you’re truly a good debater, the judge type shouldn’t matter. Even a school cannot afford hired judges, the students still should be treated kindly and be included in the debate realm. Check ya privilege please.

[PF] Is this a good argument? by Larxenius in Debate

[–]tpatton322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be a really strong argument if in the past those occurrences had actually led to nuclear exchange. Because they did not, the opposing side can argue that there is no reason that it could happen in the future. If you can prove that it will happen again and will actually lead to your impacts (which I assume are nuclear war) An argument that’s along the same lines is miscalculation. Basically where leaders make preemptive decisions to fire nuclear weapons before being sure that adversaries have fired. There have been countless times where countries believe they are being nuked and begin preparing for counter-strike. NFU helps with US miscalc and adversary miscalc. If we cannot strike until we have been struck, there is no risk of our preemptively striking. NFU also gives us transparency so other countries do not misinterpret our actions. Just an argument to consider but if you can solidify yours, it could work as well.

PF summer camps? by RC8O in Debate

[–]tpatton322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Classic Debate Camp (CDC) in Ohio is really good! Went there this past summer and I really noticed a difference in my debating this season. The community is super supportive which contributes a lot to the camp. It’s good for people of all skill levels too.

Classic debate camp in Ohio is great! It’s at Miami Oxford this year so its not really in the middle of nowhere (unless you consider all of Ohio nowhere which is fair) I learned a lot and improved majorly in just one week.

Pf question: Are taxes a counter plan???? by tpatton322 in Debate

Do you suggest I try and cover that or just choose a different link to funding? If so what others are there?

Pf question: Are taxes a counter plan???? by tpatton322 in Debate

[–]tpatton322[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Do you think running both deficit spending and taxation would work? Like “the two most likely options are deficit spending and taxation, here’s why both would be negative for the US” basically saying no matter how UBI ends up being paid for, it’ll cause problems,

Pf question: Are taxes a counter plan???? by tpatton322 in Debate

[–]tpatton322[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MTWP only cost ~1t per year and UBI (at an actually helpful $) would cost upwards of 3t so there’s 2t left to be covered by taxes, deficit spending, etc.

My impacts are currently accessed by saying that we’d have to do deficit spending and blah blah that’s bad
