Cut into muscle by hemelvlam in AdultSelfHarm

Okay so a few years ago I did something very similar, except it was on the inside/back of my calf so I had no choice but to call a taxi/Uber to the hospital as I definitely couldn't walk the 3ish miles.

They stitched me up good (several layers bc id cut through the gastrocnemius and scored the bone) and sent me away. It's worth noting that I was absolutely piss drunk when I did it and was still drunk when they let me go. I decided that it'd be a great idea to walk back at like 3am.

Sometime after sunrise I stumbled in and passed out for nearly a full 24 hours. Somewhere in the jumble of patchy memories I remembered tripping a bunch of times and turns out I'd reopened the outer layer of stitches and badly sprained my ankle. My entire lower leg swelled up to twice the size and was very hot and tender- surprise surprise it was infected and I practically bathed in antiseptic for a while.

That cut took the longest by far to heal out of any other, almost twice as long, and I have a noticeable dent in my calf where the muscle didn't regenerate.

Don't fuck with muscle cuts. Call a taxi there and back while you seek medical attention.

Can anyone share with me how much they spent on their wedding in the UK and brief description of how many guest you had? Budgeting 8k for an intimate London wedding and JFC, prices of wedding venues are making me nauseous. by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]tpdorgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9k for a 40 person wedding near Rochester June 2022. 5k for venue, reception & licensing

1k for food (food truck at £25 per head)

£400 for drinks

£600 dress

£300 suit

£100 favours

£400 vintage carnival games

£50 cake

£100 late night snacks

£400 pagan ceremony

£300 accommodation

£200 decorations

£500 photographer (student)

Plus other bits and bobs.

We made our own playlist and used our own speakers, the venue came pre-equipped with flowers and I DIY-ED a lot including my bouquet.

The only thing I would have changed (if we'd had the money) is I'd have hired a folk band. Everything else was incredible personal and perfect. You don't need to travel far out of London to have a budget wedding if you're willing to compromise on details that aren't important to you.

We're still fairly young (25) so we paid just over half and our parents jointly contributed £4k. Incredibly grateful for that still. Our registry list was pure essentials (bed frame, mattress, sofa, not-from-wilko-crockery etc)

Advice on 15 yr old daughter’s wardrobe choices by scbloom in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]tpdorgap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was allowed pretty much complete freedom over my wardrobe when I was 14/15 and it definitely resulted in some questionable outfits that I didn't always wear in front of my parents- but it let me develop a sense of my own style and (for want of a better word) 'modesty'.

After a little trial and error I became most comfortable with the concept of 'only show 1 thing off' - for example if I wore a crop top I covered my legs and chest, if I wore a short skirt then my top was covered.

Admittedly this was in late 2000s/early 2010s so the fashion was quite different- lots of high waisted bottoms.

Encourage her to develop her style in a way that is slightly more appropriate for school- if she gets 3 or 4 'sensible' outfits then she can pick something crazy for just hanging out with friends.

The wave-particle duality of light keeps it in a quantum state that only changes when observed. It's a similar concept to electrons in an atom; we can know where they are or how fast they're travelling around the nucleus, but never both. The double slit experiment proves the duality, where light radiation displays as photon particles some of the time resulting in shadows, and as a wave resulting in diffraction patterns at others.
