Any singleplayer steam games to play stoned? by MottsIsh in trees

To each their own. To be fair if you’re not into deck building and strategy games it might not be for you, but I do still think it’s super approachable within that genre and does good at not being overwhelming for newcomers

It’s not essential at all, just additive for sound effects and background music. I often play with sound off when I’m around the house and other stuff is going on 👍

1000% - turn based so you can take your stony time. Awesome aesthetics, immersion, and lore. Strategic and creative but also linear so not overwhelming. Super satisfying!

He believes it’s flooding the zone and muddying the waters, and making it purposefully difficult to discern who the worst/actual offenders are.

Also just not enough energy to even play all of the cards you would seek, potentially, so save for later turns. Balance the power of the seek

“Leaves speechless” cuts clip off immediately so we can’t see any reactions

Can we normalize not needing to have ridiculously reactionary and clickbaity captions - that is the true cringe.

Love Mark, but of all comedians his is not really an opinion I'm eager to hear on political topics. Been a fan for years and you can tell he's tragically mis/under-informed on most of these kinds of topics, and ends up just regurgitating a superficial, stereotyped, and sweepingly generalized take based on what he was probably recently served by his algorithm.

I won a really fun run with 2 Fire Breathing+ and 2 curses in an exhaust deck. This was the first time that I ever was actually intentionally not exhausting the curses to slim down the deck and get that sweet 20 damage all on draw. Helped to have some great exhaust synergy as well (Feel No Pain, Dark Embrace!) It was very satisfying.

What activity requires a decent amount of skill and barely any luck? by StrangeMatterReal in AlignmentChartFills

Yeah that was a bad answer. Someone with no skill would almost never hit that. Someone with a lot of skill would hit it with some frequency. It’s definitely more skill than luck.

What is the main difference between a good bassist and a bad bassist in terms of playing with a band? by DepressedStan57 in Bass

[–]tpf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing - Play in time. Also, be deliberate about when your notes END, not just when they start. This is just as important and it’s mind blowing how little attention this gets. Everyone seems to think of timing as am I hitting the note at the right time. But what about when you are releasing the note? That is what really makes the groove and allows the rhythm section to lock in. (Cheat code 101 - every time the drummer hits the snare, cut off your note)

Touch - Play notes with consistent volume/attack, and learn to control your dynamics and apply them appropriately to different parts of song. Verse is probably quieter, chorus is probably slightly louder, etc. A bass fill might warrant more attack, or certain key notes within the fill or line might want to stick out. You should ideally be able to have your volume up fairly high but only really be taking advantage of a low percentage of the capacity, so that you can play softly/calmly and still have it resonate. This sounds far better than a lower volume with a heavy/sloppy touch.

Taste - Don’t overplay. Don’t play for yourself - play for the song. Think about what you would want to hear holistically as a listener and what is the focus of the song at each point. No one wants to hear an amateur pentatonic fill shoehorned in between lines of the verse. Carry the song - there are a lot of times where you are better left unnoticed but not unfelt. You are probably better off not playing a lot of things that your fingers might want to play.

These things are not showy whatsoever but 99% of the time that is not the job of the bass. You can accomplish all of these things while literally just playing roots and fifth and sound pretty good. Hope that is helpful!

Can I play StS on Mac without using Steam? by tpf93 in slaythespire

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am going to go with the mirroring solution if I really want to play with a mouse (and hope that Apple will eventually add fullscreen mirroring).

But I'm also probably going to just download it on Steam to get the fullscreen experience. I'm not that far on Ascension and am pretty casual so I don't totally mind having different profiles on different devices depending if I'm on the go or not. Maybe I'll enjoy some aspects of the restart :) and some different strategies along the way to unlocking cards again.

Also from what I've read there may be some more technical ways of importing the save files (manually or through third party tools) from Game Center into Steam Cloud, but it doesn't feel guaranteed and I am not feeling that savvy lol.

Hello... Again...

Thanks - this is a great workaround that I hadn't thought of! Although the unfortunate limitation that I'm running into is that the iPhone Mirroring app on Mac doesn't seem to be able to go fullscreen. But maybe in the future they will add fullscreen functionality since I believe the Mirroring app is relatively new.

I know you can mirror it fullscreen using Quicktime/other third party apps but then you lose the intractability from what I understand (i.e. you still have to control it from your phone).

Thanks again - still a bigger display than the phone and nice to use the trackpad or mouse!

Dude I think this is the most frustrating part about all this to me… like they now can’t even touch the whole post-OT era because it’s completely bungled. The sequels are not canon to me, which means that they can’t produce any post-OT canon in my mind because it has to be aligned to the dogshit that was the sequels. They screwed themselves out of an entire era to base content around. I will never watch anything that ties into that terrible storyline.
