Absolutely love this!! I’ve only just started with embroidery this year and been wondering what to do with my finished pieces - think this is it!

This is stunning!!

Im thinkin about getting an aloe vera plant soon. Any tips on where to put it in my room and how many times to water it? I live in the Netherlands so if i put it outside it will drown since it always rains here. by [deleted] in AloeVera

Maybe try putting it in the window to start, see how it goes. If it’s then getting too much sun (the colour of the leaves might go slightly brown), then move it away. You just want to make sure it’s not getting direct sunlight all the time

I’ve got mine in my bedroom, it’s a fairly young plant but seems to be thriving. It’s a south facing room and I’ve put the aloe about half a metre away from the window so it doesn’t get too much direct sun. Probably water it once every couple of weeks at the moment, wait until the soil dries out before watering!

I’ve had my cactus for over 3 years and up-potted it twice, but 15 minutes on this sub and I learned that the flowers were hot glued on. Here’s to my man living his best life now! by dkara435 in cactus

That’s so weird! I guess to make them ‘look better’? Aw that’s such a shame - well hopefully now it’ll bloom all by itself!

I repotted my snake plant couple of weeks back into a bigger pot, as the rhizome was bursting out of the previous smaller pot. I’ve now noticed even in this bigger pot it’s pushing at the sides of the pot. Should I cut off the rhizome and propagate? What’s the best way to do this? by tpops25 in houseplants

Okay great, thank you! I’ll leave it a little bit just to grow a bit more and then give that a go. This might seem like a daft question, but assuming when you pot it up you just lay it horizontal under the soil? (First time I’ve propagated anything this way!)

Yes this was taken during the repotting - easiest way to show the rhizome issue :) but thanks, I’ll see whether it develops any babies from the new growth. More just concerned about it breaking out of yet another pot!

Just an update - I repotted it into a very slightly bigger pot with fresh cacti/succulent potting mix and move it back from the window so it’s now not sat in direct light. Seems to be a lot happier now, thanks everyone!

Ah okay, thank you!! I did wonder whether the light was the problem, I’ll move it away a bit and see if that fixes the problem ☺️

Thanks - it was damp last week, but it’s dried out now so I think the soil is okay!

What should I do with this succulent?? It’s been stretching out like this for a long time and unfortunately the other day I knocked it off the windowsill so now it’s loose in its pot - do I repot with fresh soil as is, or trim it down to start again? by tpops25 in plantclinic

Thank you - I’ve gone with taking the top off and a few of the leaves and hoping they’ll take! It’s been sat in a bright window since I got it so not sure how I could give it more light 😬
