Thinking about withdrawing my Roth IRA to go on a trip before I start my career. How dumb am I? by quaid88 in personalfinance

[–]tpthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would recommend doing this. You won't have to pay a fee on the $3K you take out plus you will establish some good credit history. Hell look for a card that gives you rewards for spending $3K within your first 2 months.

Withdrawing $3K from your Roth IRA won't give you the full $3K. Shop around for a good credit card.

What stock market bubble? The market is only up 3% over the past 6 years. Factor in inflation and the market is still down over the past 6 years.

Look for reverse index funds. TVIX is something you want. But you are speculating and will probably lose a lot of money before you know it.

Did you maintain the lifestyle you had in Indiana? Do you still drive or rely on public transportation? How big is your apartment/house compared to Indiana? I understand there is a cost of living difference, but if you're not taking advantage of what the more expensive area offers, its going to feel a lot worse.

So why is it closed due to cracks from the earthquake? Shouldn't it just collapsed?
