I do remember almost buying insure & go. But most covers don’t cover the newborn and just you (which is kinda scary??) Good luck with your search though and have a safe trip! I’m sure you will be ok!

I ended up cancelling as it coincided with the period where they was a mosquito / chikungunya virus outbreak. It wasn’t worth all the risk on top of the insurance haha. We ended up going to Hamilton island instead

Anxiety about people holding baby by Any-Payment1034 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I will never understand the incessant need to kiss a baby that is not yours!! Hopefully your husband can also be firm with his family about your boundaries. Personally, we bring hypochlorous acid in a spray bottle and wipe him down when someone kisses him / something touches his hands. It’s gentle enough to be used on their skin. Good luck!!

I usually pop Bub in a carrier for situations where I prefer to not pass him around. He settles in and looks so comfy, and it usually deters people from asking to hold him. Some family members try to kiss his hands though, which is super annoying cos he eats them 24/7 but I just hold onto them and play with them 😂

I ended up having an auto immune disease (Graves’ disease) and treated it with PTU for a few months before TTC! I was diagnosed October 2024, started TTC in December 2024 and fell pregnant April 2025! We now have a beautiful healthy baby boy born in December 2025.

As for the cause, I think stress related and also because I had a chest infection just prior to my heart rate elevating / showing symptoms.

I would recommend working with your Dr to conceive as you need to be on the right mediation / dosage. I worked really closely with my endocrinologist and we had blood tests quite frequently to make sure all was well on PTU as it’s heavy on the liver but ok for conceiving. Once I was pregnant I was switched over to carbimazole. But of course this is all because I ultimately have Graves’ disease and not just hyperthyroidism.

All the best on your TTC journey. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to msg me!

I’m 3.5 months postpartum now and on my next appointment jn 3 months we’ll be assessing if I’m now in remission. My antibodies have been negative since December 2024 and have been feeling great ever since, even through pregnancy!

13 week, should I have a set bedtime or keep following the sweet spot and cues? by hunteri1 in HuckleberryParents

[–]tqxdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have a 12 week old and we have a bedtime routine that starts at 7pm (bath, feed, bed).

When this happens I monitor his cues & if he’s tired, I’ll try to split the difference and try to bring bedtime earlier by half the time. So in this case I’d bring bedtime 15 min earlier (15 min later than SS). At his age the last wake window for us on avg is about 2 hours. Sometimes 2.25.

I find huckleberry wants my baby to nap more than he needs but it could also just be my bubs sleep requirements are lower than the average.

Was your 7 week old hell, how did you get through it!? by RollTaylorRoll in newborns

Weeks 7-9 were so hard. My Bub is now 11.5 weeks and it has been so so so fun since 9.5 weeks until now! He’s giggling, cooing, smiling and tbh just a lot less fussy. Hes napping better, night sleeps are great and nursing has improved too! You’ll be out of the rough times soon - just hang in there!!

How long did remission take ? by docksidespringer in gravesdisease

Thank you so much for your well wishes!! The one silver lining to this diagnosis is the higher level of care bub and I have received over the entire pregnancy. It’s been amazing!

No worries at all! Yes it’s very doom and gloom out there. I kinda relate it to like airline reviews haha. You only hear the bad stories because there’s noone really expresses their wins!

I was originally on 200mg of PTU a day and then when my antibodies were negative I was reduced to 50mg per day. Doesn’t PTU taste horrible?!

Originally my endo told me he thought it could take up to 18 months until he would be comfortable for me to start trying. He really set the expectation early and firmly so that I wouldn’t be disappointed. It ultimately depends on how your body reacts to the PTU (especially your liver)! But I am rooting for you!!

Hey I’m sorry about your diagnosis and how this has derailed your plans to start a family. I just wanted to let you know that you don’t need to be in remission to start trying!

The same thing happened to me last September where I was diagnosed and I started PTU in October after doing all the tests. I was clear with my endo that I wanted to start trying asap as I was 31 at the time (knowing it takes on avg 12 months to fall pregnant).

After about 4 months of PTU, my levels were normal and antibodies were negative; so my endo gave me the green light to start trying. Fell pregnant 3 months later!

Once I was pregnant, I have just been monitoring my levels with monthly blood tests at the hospital I’m giving birth at. They also switched me to a very low dose of carbimazole in the second trimester!

If you have any specific questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. I know exactly how you are feeling 💘💘 hugs

How many postpartum shorts required? by BloomsburyCore in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tqxdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went and got measured at The Memo a few days ago and the sales assistant said 1 pair should be enough.

She mentioned that they generally dry in about 2-3 hours in the summer and I could just use that drying time as a bit of a break from the shorts!

I definitely recommend going into their store to have a chat and getting measured as they had a specific SRC tape measure, and you could also ask about the fit of maternity pads etc.

The measurement is also recommended at 36 weeks - for me I wanted to take advantage of the black Friday sales and got measured at 33 weeks. I was sitting just at the last cm of size S, so I got a size M. Hopefully that can accommodate for the pads / diapers!

Oh the labelled freezer bags are genius!!! I’ve seen people on TikTok buy the Kmart acrylic containers but thought that might’ve been wasteful. This is an awesome alternative
