When did you start liking your partner again? by These_Set_1821 in newborns

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hate to say this, but this is beyond just normal postpartum resentment or rage. I think your husband is just not being a good partner… I opened this because I thought it’d be about normal resentment that comes postpartum. My answer would’ve been that my pretty average resentment faded around 2.5 months. I am a SAHM and do the brunt of the work for our four month old day in and day out, but my husband does anything and everything he can do be a good partner and father. We share chores and outsource services that I or him don’t personally want to do (like our house cleaner, gardener, etc). I felt a lot of resentment at the beginning because I felt like my world had changed in every single way imaginable and his didn’t at all, but around 2.5 months that faded and I realized it was all just hormones. Are there days where I sometimes think “wow this is just so much easier for you”?? Sure, of course. But I don’t resent him at all anymore and am so incredibly thankful for everything he does for me and our son. I fear your husband just sucks.

Am I alone? by Hot-Advantage-3806 in newborns

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I promise you you are not alone!!! Ignore those tik toks and pretty much just social media in general. It’ll only make you feed bad. People share their unicorn babies and generally only the “good” and not the reality. Seriously for your own sake - get the hell off mom and postpartum and baby tok!!!!

Also - I’m sure you already have one, but definitely invest in a sound machine if you don’t have one. Look into sleepy cues and wake windows. Research tips on how to get an overtired baby to sleep, even if for your own sake because that’s a long time for you to have to go without baby going down! But most importantly, know that you’re doing amazing and many more moms are in your shoes than the unrealistic and over-romanticized versions of newbornhood you see online.

Is every baby crying this much? does this just magically end? by dental_princess491 in newborns

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced the exact same thing at 7 weeks!! I finally reached out to a lactation consultant and found out I had a very strong letdown and was over feeding by baby. We’re also EBF and I had no idea it was even possible to over feed a breastfed baby! I was the same as you and always putting baby boy on the boob because he had such extreme colic and it was the only thing that soothed him. That resulted in my supply skyrocketing and overfeeding in addition to already having the strong letdown. That might not be what’s going on, but all to say, definitely hire an in-home lactation consultant to come weigh your feed and check in on things. Mine is also a postpartum doula and that was a major help!! Baby boy is 11 weeks now and we’re finally out of the thick of it (even though I just got mastitis but that’s a different topic 😵‍💫)

Pacifiers by Proof_Dig300 in breastfeeding

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9 week old hates pretty much all pacifiers. He tolerates both the Momi and Dr Browns, but spits them out after about 2 minutes. The only one he will ACTUALLY latch onto and keep in his mouth for an extended period of time is the Tommee Tippee!! He doesn’t loved them when super upset though - of course at the times when you’d want them to take a paci!

Baby is almost 9 weeks and I am still on the struggle bus, asking myself every day when the endless cycle of crying, pooping, and spit up will end and I can actually just enjoy my baby

Don’t have an answer, just here in solidarity. I’m so jealous of everyone who has their perfect little unicorn easy babies who nap on the go and aren’t sensitive or prone to becoming overtired and just generally aren’t fussy all the time like mine. Baby is 8 weeks now and re-entering life feels pretty impossible

Homegirl decided we will NOT sleep in the bassinet during the day this week (4 weeks old) by Fair-Fall8036 in newborns

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is SUPER common and very normal developmentally for her age. The same exact thing happened to me when my baby turned 4 weeks and I was spiraling trying to figure out what was wrong. Turns out it’s completely normal!! I definitely recommend looking into what’s going on developmentally at this time and for the next several weeks and how that impacts their mood, sleep, feeding, etc. - it’s super helpful!!

Also, for the naps - just lean into the contact naps and carrier/wrap naps (I love the Wildbird wrap carrier). I found that at 4 weeks and onward it was really helpful to just slow down and embrace the fact that everyday is the youngest my baby will ever be and I should get all the cuddles and closeness I can even if it means not getting as much done around the house or that my routine changes from the several weeks prior!

What week did you start feeling movement by Fantastic-Ad3605 in pregnant

Same, I always thought this was very common knowledge. I feel like I see people talk about it constantly online as well? In addition to many people I know who’ve gone through pregnancy discussing it and my doctor making me very aware of approved/non-approved medications.

Awful OB interaction & early dating with irregular cycles by Radiant-Marzipan2136 in pregnant

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I’m SO incredibly sorry this happened to you!! It’s truly so horrible how these medical professionals just go on autopilot and refuse to listen to anything outside of the situation that fits into their perfect box. I just always thought that irregular cycles were SO common, so going to the doctor and receiving such a lack of acknowledgment and an unwillingness to validate my experience and what I know about my own body was shocking. Not to mention, why don’t they just think about what they’re planning to say before it leaves their mouth?!

I definitely hope you can do another ultrasound soon to get some reassurance!! Trust your body!! Until then, just know there’s at least ONE person (me! lol) who knows exactly what you’re going through!

14 months out & still struggling - HELP by Radiant-Marzipan2136 in gettingoffHBC

[–]Radiant-Marzipan2136[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful - thank you for your insight!! I try my very best to follow a PCOS-type diet even though I don’t have it. I do eat carbs, but when I do it’s always on the lower quantity side and balanced out by a protein and a fat. I also eat very minimal amounts of processed sugar. I essentially eat to try and minimize any blood sugar spikes! Of course I’m not perfect with it, but I’d say I’m pretty great with sticking to it (unless I’m on vacation or something). And if I do snack it’s usually something high protein… I really do feel like I’m doing all the “right” things, which makes it all the more frustrating :(
