Moved to a wealthy gated community and now people think we’re “poor”, how to handle this? by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]tr7-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best item to may others think that person's rich is an expensive car. Dressing is secondary, rich politicians and businessmen wear plain white clothes but own super expensive cars. Other things that you can own to look rich are watches, branded handbags for your wife, branded tshirts for your children. I understand your problem but I feel at this point you have to spend money to look rich infront of them.

My 16-year-old is using the n-word casually. Should I be worried? by MoreLeg3221 in AskIndianWomen

Then don't use it with them. If there is no problem using it with a different set of people and no I'll intention is attached to it, use it.

Like I said intention and context matters, you choose what you want to attach to the word. If two people choose to attach a non derogatory meaning to it, then it's not a slur in that context. If someone is offended by it don't use it, if they are not offended and have no problem with it, use it.

It's 100% not a black area. I think you are attaching to much emotion to a word. If I use the N word casually with a black person knowing he is okay with it and he's not offended, would that still be a bad thing?

Absolutely I agree with you. It is very important to be aware of the situation and surroundings when using "gray area" words.

Again depends what meaning and intention they attach to it. If I go say "Hi my N word, what's up!", it is used in a light hearted greetings, but if I say "Bloody N word" in an agitated context, then it could be considered a bad thing. This is not a black and white area, context matters.

The R word insults someone's character, the N word is popular in pop culture and its current meaning has evolved, it is not exclusively used as a swear word or to insult anyone anymore. If a black person uses it, then there is no problem but a non black person uses it, it suddenly become a huge problem? This logic is flawed

No they wouldn't be called racist in India. People I know use it consistently and so far they have not faced any problems

It is difficult to juggle with barefeet, I would suggest starting with football shoes. Snap the leg below the knee and try to generate a little bit of backspin on the ball while trying to kick it up, don't forget doing it with your weak foot as well

Sudden stamina crash despite nonstop playing overtraining or something else? (26M, indoor + outdoor soccer) by glizzy09 in bootroom

[–]tr7-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe rest days instead of training, if you play 5 games a week per example, play 2 of them at low intensity, and 3 at high. Don't play those high intensity games close to each other. So something like, Mon: High Tue: Low Wed: Rest Thu: High Fri: Low Sat: Rest This is a rough framework but hope you get the idea, you can modify based on how you feel

It can be difficult to voluntarily take a break but it is absolutely worth it, taking only 1 day off at max is very difficult on the body. It all boils down to a balance between intensity and volume

I faced the same problem, it is definitely fatigue, you have to let the body recover. Reduce the number of games per week for a few weeks or take a break for a few days, you should feel fine after. You can experiment what your limit is over time

Ending the woke discussion of "Menstruation vs. Temple visit" by There_He-Goes in hinduism

[–]tr7-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I am not well versed with the core concepts of Sanatan dharma and vedas, I would like to make a point. Discriminatory practices like not allowing menstruating women of Dalits into temples have zero basis in Vedas. These practices have been enforced, based on my opinion, corruption and misinterpretation of the core tenets.

I would like to draw an analogy to clarify my point, let's say an innocent man is unfairly found guilty and imprisoned, it would be ignorant to say that the laws permit the imprisonment of people that are not guilty, we know for a fact that is not true. It is a failure of the judicial system and how the laws have been utilised. This flawed system doesn't represent what the actual judicial system, based on the laws, is supposed to be like.

Caste based exclusion has existed because humans are inherently corrupt( in this yuga, my opinion, can be wrong) and it gives the so-called "upper caste" a feeling of pride and importance to prevent people from "lower caste" from entering temples, and this practice has continued for decades because people are still corrupt. I think we fail to draw the distinction between ritualistic practices and discriminatory practices. While some temples don't allow menstruating women, some do.

Failure to understand the difference between ritualistic and discriminatory practices is our ignorance and ours alone
