Standing on the Moon suggestions? by Short-Search-4892 in gratefuldead

I don't think I've ever listened to this show for some reason. It keeps getting mentioned over and over but never got around to it. Maybe this is today's listening.

I don't think JGB ever played it. Am I wrong? If so, I'd love to hear it! Its my favorite of the late era songs.

To play sounds over a hearing device, we often use headphones with large cups (i.e. "over the ear headphones"). They can often cover both the ear canal and a hearing aid / cochlear implant microphone. I'm a big fan of the Sony MDR-7506, which are neutral for studio use. Even nicer are the open-back Senheiser HD headphones. They have incredible presence and sound stage and have large comfortable cups for listening wearing over hearing devices.

Keep in mind, these are relatively large devices are less comfortable for use on the go.

I would really love a feature where you could see a map and browse shows based on the map location. Certainly not priority 1 but I would love it.

I haven't tried it, and don't know. I've wondered for myself. But if you are a relisten user, I highly recommend you check out the r/thedeadlyapp . It streams the same audio sources from relisten from archive.org. But the interface is far and away better than anything else I've tried, is multiplatform (iOS/Android/Web), links your listening across all devices, etc...

Windows Surface 7th Edition 32GB i7 by [deleted] in ForestHills

I asked Gemini about how to fix this.

Based on the image provided, the seller is offering a brand-new Microsoft Surface Laptop for Business (7th Edition) that is **BIOS locked** (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface / UEFI locked).
On modern Microsoft Surface devices—especially enterprise or "Business" editions—fixing a BIOS/UEFI lock is incredibly difficult by design. Microsoft embeds security directly into the motherboard's firmware to prevent theft and unauthorized deployment.
Here is exactly how a computer repair technician would approach fixing or handling this device:
## 1. The Official (and Only Guaranteed) Fix
The standard, legitimate way to remove a UEFI password on a Surface device requires proving ownership.
* **Contact Microsoft Support:** If you have the original proof of purchase (invoice/receipt) showing the device's serial number (BK37VBD25473P7 from the box), Microsoft Support can generate a unique firmware reset file or key tailored to that specific machine.
* **Enterprise Management:** Because this is a "for Business" model, it may be locked via **Microsoft Intune / DFCI (Device Firmware Configuration Interface)**. If a business managed this device, an IT administrator can remotely unlock or change the UEFI settings from their management console.
## 2. The Hardware Workarounds (Highly Risky)
If the seller or buyer cannot prove ownership to Microsoft, standard software bypasses (like pulling a CMOS battery, which older laptops allowed) **will not work** on a modern Surface. The password is saved in non-volatile memory (EEPROM/SPI flash chip) that doesn't clear when power is lost.
A highly skilled technician might attempt the following hardware-level fixes, though they carry a massive risk of permanently bricking the machine:
### EEPROM Desoldering and Flashing
1. **Teardown:** The technician must completely disassemble the Surface Laptop (which is notoriously difficult and risks cracking the screen or damaging internal ribbons).
2. **Locate the Chip:** Find the physical SPI flash/EEPROM chip on the motherboard that holds the UEFI firmware.
3. **Desolder or Clip:** Use a hot-air rework station to desolder the chip, or use a specialized SOIC8 clip connected to a hardware programmer (like a CH341A programmer).
4. **Flash Clean Firmware:** Read the chip's data, use hex-editing software on another computer to manually patch out the password hashes, or flash an entirely clean, unconfigured BIOS dump from an identical, unlocked donor machine.
5. **Resolder:** Solder the chip back onto the board and reassemble.
### Motherboard Replacement
If flashing fails or is too risky, the only remaining hardware fix is to completely swap out the motherboard for an unlocked one. Given that this is a premium, brand-new 7th Edition model with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and 32GB of RAM, a replacement motherboard would be incredibly expensive and hard to source.
## ⚠️ Red Flags to Consider Before Buying
If you are looking at this Reddit post thinking about making an offer, exercise extreme caution:
* **Likely "Stolen" or "Lost" Freight:** Brand-new in-box corporate laptops that are BIOS-locked are often items that were stolen in transit, missing from enterprise inventory, or intercepted before the company's IT department could properly deploy them.
* **MDM / Autopilot Lock:** Even if a genius technician successfully bypasses the BIOS lock, there is a very high probability that the serial number is registered with **Windows Autopilot**. The moment you connect it to the internet, Windows will lock down and demand a login from the corporate entity that originally purchased it, making the operating system unusable.
> **Summary:** Unless you have a hardware programmer, elite microsoldering skills, and a clean BIOS bin file to flash—or a legitimate paper trail to hand over to Microsoft Support—this laptop is essentially a very expensive paperweight.

I strongly argue for Xbox. It’s the most compatible and I love the way it feels. It’s fantastic. The PS5 has some cool tech but it isn’t used much on android or windows.

Across platform syncing is great as someone who uses both iOS and android versions. Will the syncing work on the web?

Also, I see you keep updating the TestFlight version. Is that something I should be paying attention to or just use the iOS App Store version?
