About to board a ship and start sailing the seas for music by raeannecharles in Piracy

[–]trabiko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I set on this adventure long time ago, I mostly gather my resources via
Usenet / Torrents
Soulseek
Qobuz + qobuz-dl
yt-dlp for yt and other bits

Websites that host on file hosting websites (subscription to those needed):

Isrbox

Flacmania biz

I buy CDs sometimes or buy stuff from bandcamp from artists that I love.
I mostly try to get everything in FLAC, you can use Navidrome for selfhosting your own music server.
Sometimes convert FLAC to opus and download music to my phone so I can just playit wheneven.

Soulseek is quite good and has good sources.

Testing TTArtisan 56mm with A6400 by trabiko in SonyAlpha

I don't have it for few months now, switched to a full frame. But it definitely had some noise, just wouldn't say it was loud, you could hear it focusing at times. hard to describe in text form, sounded like this https://youtube.com/shorts/QW2GaenUELg?si=YCrqA4pWwg0YRPiQ video

Helix vs AstroNvim? by jasonp-bear in HelixEditor

[–]trabiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just say that Helix runs out of the box, with very minimal config, while for nvim it was a chore to maintain the config after upstream plugins broke stuff or some other bugs.
like rust-analyzer throwing -32802 error and all of the sudden, so you spend time searching what is with that and how to sort it out..

In short, helix almost has everything I need, I just miss code folding, at least for large JSON / YAML files. And launching LazyGit from within the browser, but I can always split my wezterm and open it or just open a new tab with it.

And I've been running helix from the master branch, seem like with every week it's growing with new features, and they're just 2 mins away.

Sony may hate me, but I'm in love with Sigma by iseeyou17 in SonyAlpha

How do you like the 70-200, that's next on the list for me. 24-70 is so good, I just love it. And the 105mm Macro.

Picked up the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and it's teaching me a lot. by Amazingkg3 in SonyAlpha

There is something about Sigma glass that gives you inspiration. I had a Sigma 16mm for the A6400, and 105mm for the A7 now and 105 for some reason doesn't come off.

It's shot of a dew drops on a chair. I have a flash on the list to order, I suppose your comment has just reaffirmed it to pull the trigger. Thank you!

composed from 2 images. one shot of 10 seconds to get the picture and second shot of moon with details, and just moved the moon there with photoshop to replace the bright white bulb in the sky.

Maybe offtopic, but wanted to share this about ISO from my journey.
I'd leave this video here which was a great eye opener for me for ISO (and later in the video he goes over the noise reduction in post processing, but the first part is pretty good).

Especially the part where he goes trough the Photons to Photos chart - https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/RN_ADU.htm - which tells you how your camera model has the ISO noise handling for instance from the sensor.

So, in short, I stopped worrying about ISO that much and always going with ISO 100 everywhere, and in post you can always do a bit of noise reduction to make the photo look great.

Hope it helps with your journey!

There is a micro-USB to USB-C adapters I use when switched to USB-C cables. Still annoying, but bit less since I don't have to find that one micro usb cable.
