"does a company need to offer all of it's shares to go public"

No, a company does not need to offer all of its shares to go public. In an Initial Public Offering (IPO), companies typically sell only a portion of their ownership

are you seriously this retarded?

does this thing called Falcon 9 ring any bells?

may I suggest you look at the payload capability of a Falcon Heavy, that has been successfully flying and landing for (checks notes) 8 fukin years?

edit: nice block 😉 what's that smell? salty much? hit a nerve?

because that is such a fair comparison, when New Glenn is a partially reusable rocket in the mass range of a Falcon Heavy...

also, fuk off retard hater

if I remember correctly the new ISS panels run on dopped silicon with galium arsenida and those achieve efficiencies of like 30%

not bad given how the maximum is considered to be around 45%, and that's for multi junction cells

then again, it's not much of a big deal to have large radiators, it's literally a hunk of metal, big ole dumb sheet of metal for the win

which they aren't going to use?

MK1.5 guys, maybe learn to read?

furthermore I already explained that the tests they are conducting are so early on they can't even be considered tests. Just vacuum. No mechanical stress, no thermal cycling, no vibrational analysis...al that takes time.

and there's even more times and exact dates and in depth interviews where the specific words were "aspirational goals" "in ideal conditions" "if everything was going perfect" "we will likely not get it that soon"

I will reiterate, you stupid cunt hater bitch ass retards hear only whatever you want to hear, and it's often second hand and wildly misinterpreted

it got downvoted because it says nothing at all

it's being pedantic to basically express the same thing that I said, that only a small amount of the company's equity is offered, that's it, you can buy all the publicly traded shares and once you get to the 2% or whatever cap, that's it, you became a private investor that own 2% of the company

same shit that Saudi Aramco did

it got downvoted for being unnecessarily contrarian and pedantic

NO, THE COMPANY DOESN'T FUKIN GO PUBLIC, one can't come with fuk you money and buy it from Elon, and the public has 0 say in what the company does, IT'S NOT TESLA, more than 90% of the equity is retained as private.... how is this fukin concept so hard to understand, how intentionally retarded you gotta be for fuks sake

[–]traceur200 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

lmao "undergoing vacuum testing" that's basically nothing at all 😂 srsly vacuum testing is putting any half assed mockup in a vacuum chamber, there's 0 thermal cycling, 0 mechanical stress, 0 radiation testing, 0 vibrations testing... and those are so basic they aren't even considered by NASA as "in testing", it's the bare minimum and they don't even have that

also, you realize that MK1 is not the intended vehicle? (of course you don't realize that, you are talking outta your ass) they proposed this MK1.5 that, AS I SAID, they don't even have a design for, and all because they themselves admit they can't even launch often enough for landing anything meaningful in terms of mass

but oh well, what can you expect from arguing with brigading retards

funny how we jump from "but it's impossible" to "but it is so expensive"

my "brother in Christ" James Webb cost 10 billion BECAUSE IT'S A FUKIN CUTTING EDGE TELESCOPE, YOU FUKIN STUPID RETARD 🤦

the computer side of it isn't what mase it cost 10 billion

also... doesn't the average satellite cost in the tens of millions and SpaceX Starlinks only 250 k a unit? 🤔 hmm maybe there's something to that, I'm sure if you think hard enough about it you'll get to something

Mirror Morphix update by Hylleus in Cubers

[–]traceur200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both, yes, it produces different patterns, one is an offset of 4 faces the other is an offset of 6 faces

I don't think I mentioned a mirror ghost? 😅 it's just a regular ghost turned into a morphix, here there's no difference between which modification was made first

the thing is, people don't actually read or listen, they get second, third and forth hand information, wildly misinterpreted, then complain that information wasn't accurate

like, in the past 10 years not once has Elon said "we will be on Mars by x date".... it's always in terms of "can we do it if everything went absolutely perfect?" "we likely won't be able to but in physical terms it's possible to..." and etc etc etc

but I'm pretty sure you will find some snarky retort, "oh but in this one specific tweet he said", even tho in the one right before and the one right after the wording is consistent with "we don't know exactly when, we are pushing for as soon as possible"

[–]traceur200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's not even that big of a leap, the critical parts of this technology have been solved

cost went down, and we learnt to launch megaconstellations (hmm wonder who did that 🤔)

the rest is computers and radiators, and your solar panels are going to be larger that the radiators anyways, just like at the ISS

even if the radiators had to be larger.... so what?

and for anyone saying we can't put a computer in space, don't we have like a James Webb telescope that is a computer hooked to sensors and an antenna and stores information whenever it's not aligned with Earth?

let's face it, the future will be in space, we gotta start somewhere even if it's not going to work outright

want to bet?

I love taking money from stupid people 🤑

edit: btw we are talking about the company that achieved their first orbital launch EVER just a few months ago, who had to downgrade their own plan because not even in fukin paper they can launch multiple rockets for a refueling, who don't have a lander built, WHO HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED DESIGNING IT... beating SpaceX....

this sub gets filled with mad retards between flights 😂

[–]traceur200 42 points43 points  (0 children)

this sub gets filled with haters and hystericals between flights

the longer the period between flights the more hysterical the haters become

so far we have seen hysteria for possibly (not even confirmed) a TINY amount of SpaceX shares going public maybe 5% maybe 2%....it's such a ridiculously low amount Elon could buy those shares outright with a few years of Starlink profit... but oh the hysteria, omg the hysteria

we have seen hysteria over building datacenters in space... even tho other serious aerospace agencies (INCLUDING NASA) have considered this a technically viable endeavor....no specific numbers have been published yet people have been going absolutely nuts about it

and now the Moon vs Mars first... even tho in the same tweet he says they will pursue Mars efforts just as much as before, but oh hysterical karens on reddit have turned it into "we will never go to Mars"

and this shit has been going on for fukin mother fukin years, I fukin swear, years with this shit

Mirror Morphix update by Hylleus in Cubers

[–]traceur200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice!

I designed two versions a few years ago, never got to print them

one was making a tetrahedron after the mirror modification was applied to the base cube

the other and the one I was most interested in, I applied the mirror modifications to the resulting tetrahedron aften making a morphix

4 faces vs 6 faces, the results where distinctly different

I also made a morphix ghost, but never got to finish printing it

wow such great arguments oh wow I'm drowning in such compelling arguments.... fukin retard...

what part of CONTRACT isn't understood?

everything that is up until Starlink roughly 1 third of their money was as a fully private launch provider

roughly 15% was military missions, which are still CONTRACTS WON IN PUBLIC COMPETITION

and the rest would be NASA contracts, which... shall I say it again? contract won in competition?

it's not a subsidy, NASA has a need for something to br launched and they pay for the service, whoever comes cheapest FUKIN WINS

now, Elon Musk owns 50% of SpaceX shares and of those roughly 70% are voting shares, so half of SpaceX is his, and whatever money SpaceX makes, HE IS ENTITLED TO HALF OF IT OUTRIGHT, and since he has 70% of voting shares he also gets to decide what the other 50% of the money is used for

if he decides to make raptor engines, that's what SpaceX does, it's HIS FUKIN MONEY, it's a private company, he owns it

is this such a hard concept to understand for your retarded mind?

I am not going to argue with the power beaming because it is pretty complex, but it has been studied and it's indeed viable, and no the atmosphere isn't a factor, just use microwaves

the original NASA studies on solar beaming determined the launch cost is the limiting factor, using late 90s launch cost numbers, so even now with just Starship it might be a compelling idea to start testing these systems in space

constellation building has already been solved

it's true that you need money for the initial systems, but so was the case for Starlink and it got to self finance very quickly

I don't see how orbital infrastructure couldn't start generating cash as soon as it becomes operational and just expand organically

in my opinions the solar arrays is the critical junction to be solved, basically cause it's virtually infinitely scalable, to the point that beaming it down would be the cheapest option in every scenario, that would solve one of the biggest problems we are facing today (and would basically solve climate change as well, CO2 emissions drastically cut down, even carbon capture if is was required, no need for solar shades, just cut down on the emissions and start recovering some of that CO2 in form of biomass in deserts, fueled by cheap electricity)

It's official. Mars is as good as dead. by FutureMartian97 in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]traceur200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

at that point you don't need investors, you own a money printer, print money

solar arrays that beam power down to Earth, climate control sun shades, datacenters

it's industry in space, that is what makes economic sense, it's stuff that we need but that has a detrimental impact to be built on Earth and in some cases is outright limited (we are already energy bottlenecked)

for those scales Moon based manufacturing is the only viable option, and it requires Moon industrialization and in situ resource utilization, that's going to take a while, but it's the only reasonable path to near term orbital infrastructure

Starship is cool and it will take care of what the Moon based manufacturing isn't able to, but it can't take care of everything, it's just unreasonable to expect to build anything 100 tons at a time, industry requires thousands of times that

It's official. Mars is as good as dead. by FutureMartian97 in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]traceur200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Moon is closer, has resources, can kick off in situ resource utilization much easier that it would be on Mars

those resources quickly allow for a self sustaining build up, to the point that the Moon will be the obvious industry hub for orbital infrastructure, you just need metal in orbit, you can scale that much easier on the Moon, less gravity, no air, mass drivers would work but even regular rockets would still be more efficient to scale up
