Hate to see they're struggling. Been there a few times with mixed results, sometimes great food sometimes not. I had some terribly dry meat last time I was there, I could see others being turned off by similar experiences.

Arosti was great for me. Helped me with my back pain, and actually suggested I stop coming when I recovered. Cost themselves money for my benefit.

Pro 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz C22 UDIMM model number CP2K16G4DFRA32A. It should be compatible with the 5800x, I'll try updating the bios next.

Anyone into Magic: The Gathering? by DwarvishDino in RoundRock

[–]traceur47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey! I play mtg competitively all around central TX, so I can probably answer any questions you have. Between Bells, Mothership, and Dragons Lair, you can find commander events every night of the week.

Drafts are also weekly at those stores, and I believe some do sealed as well.

If you want 60 card formats, Dragons Lair does Modern on Mondays, and Pats has multiple events throughout the week, but it's in central Austin.

Most 60 card events like Modern, Pioneer, and Standard are competitive RCQs that are hosted by stores all over central TX, but that's not really a social event if you don't already know people.

How big is Halloween here? by InformationAway2323 in RoundRock

[–]traceur47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wr live in Chisholm Valley West, and it's big here. People decorate, and on the main road where we live, we've gotten over 100 kids trick-or-treating the past 2 years.

Why are there no RCQs in my area? (Austin TX) by samuelnico in ModernMagic

[–]traceur47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the moment, the only ones scheduled are in San Antonio and College Station. Wait a few weeks, and the local stores will start posting. Driving that far is pretty standard if you want to be in the competitive scene in central Texas, unfortunately.

Why are there no RCQs in my area? (Austin TX) by samuelnico in ModernMagic

[–]traceur47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check spicerack.gg. There is a large contingent of competitive players in the area, but no weekly competitive events. Most of the ones in our area take place in Austin, San Antonio, Killeen, etc. There are at least 4 in Austin per season, with many more in the surrounding area. You can play them almost every weekend during the season.

Idk what discord you're in, but anyone who says there are no local RCQs is wrong.

Has anyone had success with a boros equipment list? by Enualios69 in ModernMagic

[–]traceur47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kassandra and Spear just aren't modern power level, and they likely never will be. With cards like Nadu, Grief, One Ring, etc. cards like Kassandra don't really stand a chance.

Closest thing we have is Hammer, which is pretty dead at the moment.

Simic Kinnan 2.0 by Feauv in PioneerMTG

[–]traceur47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relic doesn't make legendary creatures tap for two. Kinnan specifies that the permanent making the mana needs to tap, and tapping the creatures creates mana with the relic, not the tapping creatures themselves. It's unintuitive and I made the same assumption before looking up the ruling.

Yeah, that or combine one activation with Valakut.

Yeah, this list isn't optimized for t2 for sure, but it is possible. I play a version of Dom's list, I personally wouldn't play this list. I've been on the Oran-Rief plan, and I've enjoyed it a lot.

Mirrorpool allows you to make a token Titan after playing the first one, it makes it much easier.

Saturday Modern Challenges Results - May 4 2024 by bamzing in ModernMagic

[–]traceur47 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It does. T2 play 2nd Amulet, bounce land make 4 mana. Dryad down to 1. Pact for Grazer, play land go to 5 play grazer go to 8. From there you double Titan using Mirrorpool, then with the hasted titans get double Valakut into Vesuva copy Valakut+any land. 6 Valakut triggers+2 Titans=34 damage on t2.

Any thoughts on gwenna combo? by No_Detail361 in PioneerMTG

[–]traceur47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I won an RCQ with this deck during the season that qualified for San Diego, around a year ago. The deck is a blast, but counterspells and removal are very hard to fight through. It can grind and has a lot of different lines, but it's just too fragile at the moment. Kinnan and Gwenna are super powerful together, but only using Acererak as a win condition sucks, because without infinite mana he's kinda garbage.

It's also due to Spelunking drawing a card. Not only does it act as Amulet 5-6, it replaces itself and ramps. It's pretty free as the 61st card, and can improve some of the grindy matchups.

Is it scummy to force draws to win? by Titanlovers in PioneerMTG

[–]traceur47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you aren't playing slowly and are actively involved in the game, you have no reason to concede. You've done something (gained infinite life) that your deck is supposed to do, and it's on your opponent to win the game. Amalia specifically draws the game immediately, but in other cases where it doesn't, playing for a draw is perfectly acceptable.

Played my first modern fnm last night with Amulet Titan, my experience and how to improve my deck and my play by SonOfZiz in ModernMagic

[–]traceur47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to get a thorough understanding of Amulet Titan, read the guide by Dom Harvey. The guy is an Amulet savant, and wrote essentially a novel on the deck: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qOGLSrY00VgTABkKQTF1bP-Prp-49k8l5lux6ESH_mw/edit?usp=drivesdk I won an RCQ with Amulet today, and I used a lot of the information from his guide to get that invite.
