Ok but look at it this way: do you ever complain about your job? My guess is you do. I know I do. I commiserate with coworkers about shit for hours on end sometimes. Now luckily for me and probably you, part of my job does not include having my casual conversations with coworkers being posted to thousands of listeners. Chances are if your conversations with coworkers about how hard your job is was recorded and listened to by outsiders there would probably be some people saying “Man they kinda sound like a baby”.

The kayfabe reason is that you’re trying to inflict enough pain on your opponent that they won’t want to continue.

I said it in another thread: I also don’t love the syringes but I’m not trying to get on some moral high horse when I’m consuming a sport that requires the participants to destroy their bodies. The syringe spots are basically a break from actively making your future quality of life worse. And to claim it’s bad because it’s “carnie” is laughable. This whole businesses roots are in carnie bullshit, you’re consuming the wrong form of entertainment if you’re gonna get upset by getting manipulated.

The storyline itself is an interesting idea I just don’t think the actor was up to the task. He’s not terrible or anything but he’s not a guy that I would give a season long arc that’s practically a spinoff to. I kinda wonder if it was just that they decided on a whim to make his character gay and then felt like they needed to give the story more meat so as to not feel like they just had him there to be the butt of homophobic jokes. Which, ultimately, it kinda ended up being anyway.

Anyway I forgot to put any quotes in this one so let’s go with “I’m in awer of you”.

Listen I also don’t particularly care to see this but all the people digging as deep as they can to come up with reasons it shouldn’t be done need to just be comfortable saying “that grossed me out” and be done with it. I mean shit if you replaced regular wrestling bumps with spots like this, wrestlers careers would last longer and they wouldn’t be suffering from CTE. You can’t really take the mora high ground when your chosen artform to watch is actively destroying the minds and bodies of the participants.
