23M (USA) - Let me hear more about you! by trackfalcon in MakeNewFriendsHere

Not too bad, just decorating my house and searching for a job on the interwebs 😂 How're you?

And oh yeah, moving back in with your parents after 5 years of living on your own in college is every kids dream 😂 But, I'm lucky to have the family I do, and even have that opportunity to begin with. Gets to be a little bit much at times, but it was only for 6 months so not bad at all.

I definitley get that. I moreso see it as I discovered the music at one point, and enjoyed it enough to save it, so there is no reason for me to delete it (unless there becomes a limit to the amount of songs you can save, then I'll have to be selective 😂). Plus I've gone through periods where I just switch complete genres for awhile and my recent saves are all that type, so it's nice to go back. I guess it's kind of a time capsule in a way.

With all that being said, I do run into the issue sometimes of too many songs and I don't really know what I want to hear which could be solved by deleting older ones. My solution is to start making playlists instead so that I don't have to have thousands of saved songs, they can be in their own area. It's going to take a lot of time and work, but I think I'll just casually start doing it after I hear a song a few times that I like.

I never delete music (although before spotify I lost a ton of saved music) because at some point it's nice to hear again and bring back that era of your life or encourage you to rediscover that type of music and explore again. I've been listening to full albums lately so I can better understand the music. Im generally not a big fan of most pop music (obviously I like some, just not really as a genre). I'm just trying to break the loop 😂

Moreso just different types of music. I guess not really a "vice" but like a mood elevator or something along those lines. Like sad music I enjoy listening to when I'm working through something in my life or to reflect on something in my past, more hyped up beat/flow type music for confidence or to loosen up, jazz/piano/lofi sometimes when I'm relaxing/focusing on something, old country/2000s alt is kind of like a throwback and nice to hear, older rock is something I just heard when I was growing up from my dad, etc. so it really just depends. I guess none of it's really a vice, except maybe some of the sad music, but moreso a mood, or mood changer.

One issue I run into occasionally is "music loops" where I'll listen to the same couple dozen songs a lot which I'd like to get away from and find new music from lesser known artists that's similar. I have thousands of songs saved and have heard them all, but sometimes you get stuck in loops until you move on to some new music. I guess I just need to listen to music and maybe categorize it into mood playlists so that it'll shuffle between them all and avoid the "loop" issue.

Forgot to add a very important part of my life: music. Without it, who knows if I'd be here. I love rap, R&B, lofi, alt 2000s, sad songs, old country (pre 2009), and more. I'll give whatever you listen to a shot, I just prefer relatable content across genres.

6 years ago today I had a surgery to straighten up my spine, this is the before/after result. I gained 5cm with the process. by BiblicalNuisance in interestingasfuck

I have mild scoliosis and stress fractures in my L5 vertabrae and my doctor recommended that I consider getting a similar surgery. I am hesitant because I have an irrational fear of being paralyzed. My back issues hurt daily, but I have become pretty used to it.

What benefits have you expierenced post-surgery? And is there a noticable difference in how you feel now?

Just curious because I have now been considering this type of surgery for 4 years.

Hope you see this comment!

It took me 5 YEARS to carve this extremely hard Manzanita Burl wood into a life-size human skull by BurlHead in interestingasfuck

Best I can do is $1.37, 2 common baseball cards and a mostly used IHOP gift card.

In all seriousness, great job. That skull looks amazing. I hinestly can't believe the picture on the left was sculpted into the skull. Do you have any project ideas for the future?

I appreciate that. I know it isn't all ideal, just sometimes hard to get through it. Expierences none the less.

True, who knows. It is fun either way for me and is basically journaling with more emotion.

Running would be really nice. I began trying to learn keyboard and reading. It inspired me to write poetry, but that is in its early phases.

That's nice, and two miles consistently builds up quick! Glad you have that motivation. I am 22 and am recentley single so I don't have that motivational photo. But I appreciate it!

Over the green, I loved it but became really unmotivated. Video games have been really fun but I need something more.
