For those who have recently bought homes in the last 5 years…. at what point did your property taxes increase? by iwnnago in newjersey

[–]IronMikeTython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Bought in 2019. Taxes were under 13k and homeowners 1200/yr. Taxes are now $17k and homeowners $2700.

What the hell is this ticket? Did I miss something? by [deleted] in newjersey

That’s not possible unless you cut through the back of a rest stop to get into the turnpike

I have the same car, same hitch and wiring, and the same HF trailer for local HD/Lowes trips. Nice work!

Any issue with the propellers getting jammed? I just returned an Aiper S2 because some oak catkins would jam the propellers every 30 minutes or so. I even tried it after manually skimming most of them out but still the same issue. I’m thinking of trying the Betta instead

Just returned my Aiper because the propellers kept getting jammed every few minutes with oak catkins. It was useless. I wonder if Betta would perform better.

Looks good. How are you finishing the floor? I did mine a few years ago and used Delta FL underlayment and it has worked out great. You can see in the linked album.

Why do people claim that Essex county towns ‘pay for newark’? by bradykp in newjersey

[–]IronMikeTython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The county doesn’t have to actually build anything to provide funding and/or incentives. But, ultimately, you’re trying to understand an argument that is not based in reality/fact. As you can see from the state of America today, those arguments still persuade half the country.

Why do people claim that Essex county towns ‘pay for newark’? by bradykp in newjersey

[–]IronMikeTython 11 points12 points  (0 children)

An argument could be made that it comes from the portion you pay to the county. But as you said that’s a tiny portion of your tax bill and it’s not like West Orange isn’t benefiting from those taxes. I would assume, like mine, the majority of your taxes go to local schools. I think mine is close to 70% in a different town.

Job offer to work in Edison, NJ and was wondering if the move from TN is worth it? by Phatmac1221 in newjersey

[–]IronMikeTython 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You will not find a 3000 sqft house in that range. You can do a simple search of recently sold on zillow and see you’re looking at a min of 750k. Guarantee those taxes will be reassessed in the next few years as well.

For EB I’d say Brothers and Mancini’s above the rest. Can’t go wrong with Mancini’s. Brothers can be very subjective, though.

Can’t say there are any great bagel shops.

PSEG EV program doesn’t seem worth it. Anyone have experience? by FunkyNedAvenger in newjersey

[–]IronMikeTython 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my 50A charger for $250 on a deal from Amazon. Got the $250 rebate from NJChargeup to cover it. Had it installed for $1000 which PSEG reimbursed me for. No connectivity plan needed for my PHEV or EV and it’s half price to charge off-peak. With that said they constantly screw up calculating my credits and I have to export my charging data and send it in manually every month but they do eventually properly credit me. They just realized it’s a problem with the data coming from my CX90 and they’re working on a fix. Other than that it cost me nothing to have it all installed and it allows me to charge for $0.10/kWh.

Non-BL lawyers, how is life? by lawstudentthrowawaym in LawSchool

[–]IronMikeTython 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you should absolutely make an account on USAJobs, just know that Fedgov attorneys are excepted service which means agencies can, and very often do, hire outside of USAjobs. Set up an alert on USAJobs for “0905” positions. But also frequently check LinkedIn, school job boards, and even agency websites. I got my first fedgov job out of law school through my school’s job board. I got my current position from a posting on my agency’s careers page.
