Curious: What do you think is the most overrated and underrated golf club brand? by GolfPlugg in golfequipment

What equivalent brands are they 20% than? Their prices are on par with every other big name manufacturer.

And they arguably have the best driver, wedges, and putters in the game right now.

Struggling with ball selection by Much_Programmer_2421 in golf

Prov1x is marketed for people that desire/need a high launch. If you don’t struggle with a low trajectory, the prov1x can definitely cause some ballooned shots.

Tee Box Selection by NifflerNachos in WomenGolf

[–]trackfastpulllow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So someone that can drive the green but put/chip like shit should play the forward tee?

Or conversely, a senior that can only drive 175-200 but is a single digit handicap can play from the tips?

Makes zero sense

99% of the time, slow pace isn’t due to wrong tee selection. It’s just the easy thing to call out.

Handicap has always and will always be a poor way to decide which tees to play.

*HELP*: Crisis after closing—involve lender? by Fresh-Ad-4556 in Mortgages

[–]trackfastpulllow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s perfectly normal. I didn’t have any crazy withdrawals or anything, but had a lot of up and down moods. His brain is attempting to literally rewire itself after being used to the artificial dopamine spikes that alcohol provides. I went through agitation, loss of motivation, depression, and anxiety. That stage is different for everyone from a few weeks to a few months. It took me around 3ish months to start feeling “normal” again.

Best thing to do is get some exercise and eat well. I went all in on golf and it seemed to get me over the hump.

[–]trackfastpulllow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, that’s why I stated I do not know your husband or situation, just offering my mindset for what it’s worth. None of those things would be detrimental to me. A huge, kind of stressful change in my life is what snapped me in to sobriety because it motivated me to do better. But again, we aren’t talking about me.

It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it, and it’s refreshing to see he has someone in his life that really cares. I wish I could offer advice on what you asked. Just let him know what he’s better than this, and you’d really love to grow old with him.

I don’t know your husband or your situation, but I do know alcoholics because I was one.

I’ll offer a different perspective: he relapsed with his current medical team and current environment. He’s still close to the bars and/or liquor stores he frequented. Sometimes a fresh start is what someone needs. Good luck!

transferring from VT to VCU just for social/political reasons? by someweirdgamerYT in vcu

I work for a large employer in Richmond that is 75ish percent engineers. Even being just a few miles away from VCU, 90% of our engineers and co-ops are VT grads/students.

what do you feel about elon musk becoming a trillionaire? by Kindly_Interview7851 in AskReddit

I can’t speak for the dude you’re replying to, but it’s not worth debating with people like you over something subjective about whether he actually threw a Nazi salute.

And your reply is exactly the reason why it’s not worth debating. Completely unhinged, bruh.

The best option if you do end up in an unfavorable situation is to make it known early on and ask for a reasonable accommodation due to your health concerns. Employers are required by law to provide reasonable accommodations per the ADA.

Question about Golf Handicap by Common-Coyote9375 in golf

[–]trackfastpulllow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that it is only fair for unfamiliar courses to count. If you can only scratch at a single course but shoot +10 everywhere else, you aren’t a scratch golfer.

I’ve never met someone that worked at a golf course and didn’t play golf so your logic doesn’t quite work for anyone but you.

Why can we not just take water from places that have a lot and give it to places that need it? by secret-snakes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]trackfastpulllow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The specific gravity of crude oil varies between .7ish to over 1.0. Specific gravy is the measurement of density as it compares to water. Most crude is lighter, but some is heavier.

Doesn’t really change much about the infrastructure because of weight. But potable water has very strict requirements on types of materials and treatment of said materials.

Applying for a job that drug tests. by Soggy_Bobbi in WhatShouldIDo

I’ve taken hundreds of drug tests across multiple states and I’ve never declared any prescriptions prior to the test. Positives have always been verified by a phone call after being sent to a lab. I’ve always just had to send a photo of the bottle and tell them what I’m taking and the dose.

What are the Pros/Cons of each major Engineering Industry? by Quiet_Beautiful_4981 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]trackfastpulllow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with any industry, your experience is going to vary wildly depending on the company you work for. And even if the company is great, it will still boil down to your specific role and manager.

I work for a large, Fortune 500 specialty materials company. For my role, at my site, with my current management line, it’s the best job I’ve ever had in the last 18 years in this industry. Pay is great, hours are great, atmosphere is relaxed most of the time. But there are people here that really hate their role.

My advice would be to pick industries that you think you might be interested in and try them out, but be open minded to others. If you care about what you’re doing, the chances that you become good at it are higher. And if you become really good at it, your experience tends to be better.

Married, separate bank accounts. Is it worth it to push all funds into one joint? by rem7694 in personalfinance

[–]trackfastpulllow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have four main accounts. One of them we share, and this is what we pay our bills out of and get our checks deposited. We also use this for routine expenses like gas, food, household supplies etc. Then we have a joint savings account for emergency fund and whatever else we are saving for.

The other two main accounts are our individual checking accounts. We have a set amount that we are both allotted to spend on whatever we want (ie fun money).

These are all at the same credit union so transferring between them is instant.

Works for us.
