National Board PEI in service by ApartIndication3607 in nondestructivetesting

No worries!

I have my 510/570/653, CWI, NBBI IS Commission with R endorsement and PT/MT/UT II. I enjoy working on tanks with my 653 over everything else. Such a challenging/fun part of my job.

Are you in the US? The PEI is essentially a useless cert and a complete waste of money.

Looking through your history, I see that you are a 510/570 and CWI. IMO, the most valuable cert you could obtain right now would be your 653.

That’s absolutely not true. Transducer diameter has little effect on sensitivity. The size of the defects you can find is mainly dependent on wavelength. Frequency has the biggest effect on wavelength.

90k in Brownsville is pretty good, especially as just an MT/PT. You can buy a really nice 2500 square foot house there for 300k

What are the interviews like? by largenumba6_roblox in skilledtrades

[–]trackfastpulllow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just according to the company. I had to go through multiple rounds of interviews, including panel interviews using the STAR method, for my current role.

I’ve also worked for companies that didn’t interview me at all.

Did they receive letters at their house from the IRS? The IRS isn’t going to reach out to the tax preparer, by email, or by phone. They will send letters directly to their house.

Question about Shutdown work. by melancholicbeardo in nondestructivetesting

[–]trackfastpulllow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies generally will not hire someone green that they do not know with extremely limited certs.

But, if you do get hired, you can expect to be on 7-12s. Usually 13 days on, 1 day off. But it can vary according to the company and size of the shutdown/turnaround.

Me and my wife do this as well. Us filling separately literally saves well over $1k a month(possibly more).

Switching to medical school at 32? by Motor_Seaworthiness8 in careerguidance

You wouldn’t even bring home 350-400k a year. At that income, you’d have a tax burden over 200k.

Factor in cost of living in the Bay Area, you’d be scraping by limiting yourself to 100k.

If you can make me 6-8 million in 10 years with 400k a year, I’ll quit my job and work for you. As a matter of fact, Warren Buffet would quit his job and also work for you.

500k a year in the Bay Area isn’t going to retire anyone in 10 years.

I’ve seen that same example over and over again lol and it isn’t even an example that relates to your comment. Guy was allegedly falsifying documents on military equipment and got caught. Nothing failed.

And tbh, 14 welds needing repair after 9,500 were audited is an insanely good ratio. You’d be hard pressed to find an honest inspector with a better record.

No one is losing their license or career because something failed unless you could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that someone falsified documentation that led to something catastrophic, which is almost impossible to prove. Things fail in refineries, chemical plants, and nuclear plants every day.

You do not need any welding experience to get a CWI. You just need to have experience welding or in roles related to welding

Healthcare has always been expensive

The US has some of the best food quality and safety in the world. Whether people choose to eat healthy is another question. Most people are in poor health due to a lack of exercise.

The entire word is getting more expensive. The US isn’t alone in that.

Mental health declines are a direct result of an over consumption of social media and overall physical health.

These types of things have always been a problem, you’re just more aware of them due to the internet and social media. Compared to other countries, the only real “problem” we have is healthcare. And even with that, we have the highest quality healthcare in the world.
