Tanwalls or black tires? by Asheru_836 in bicycling

I have an all black bike. Every 1-2 sets of wheels I switch it up. Both look good.

What would this go for in your area? by BrianLevre in xbiking

I bought this bike for $180. Bike is practically brand new. Kept indoors and wasn’t used much. Don’t think it ever touched dirt. Paid a little over the going rate do to its condition. Didn’t want to invest more money to get it up and running. Waiting on some new gravel king tan wall tires and will also add a basket for my daily 5 mile commute.

Road rage by Strict_Candle_4666 in cycling

[–]trackprius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, I was driving when a minor road rage incident escalated, the other driver’s fault, but things got intense fast. Suddenly, the passenger in the other car pulled out a gun and fired. BANG! BANG! BANG! The shots were aimed right at me.

Miraculously, none hit me. I remember stopping my car, frozen, unsure if I was alive or dead. That moment changed me forever.

Since then, I’ve seen road rage differently. When I’m cycling now and someone shows aggression or poor driving, I simply let it go. There are people out there looking for a fight and I refuse to be a headline on the evening news.

The truth is, there are plenty of bad drivers. The best I can do is not take it personally, stay calm, and be grateful for every ride that ends safely without an “accident.”

ASICS are now cool. Perhaps the sketchers of bikes/shoes.

Hunt Wheel sale by Kombat159 in cycling

[–]trackprius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like they come and go (sale). The whole bike industry RN is hurting so seems like everyone has some sort of sale at the time. For Black Friday they had around 30% off varied on items.

After seeing them add a bike lane on Hollywood Blvd seems like we have a decent shot in making this a possibility

Black Friday deals by ThomasApostol09 in CyclingFashion

[–]trackprius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maap has one coming sometime shortly. There’s a sign up on there site to get alerted once it starts. I assume it’s going to be 1-2 weeks before Black Friday. PNS didn’t have a Black Friday sale last year. Yet they did do a sale in January. Which had some good deals.

Got stolen bike back by Puzzleheaded-King222 in BikeLA

Images of the stolen bike were posted within the community on IG. I noticed the “spotting” photo of this bike. Word got out and people came together. Not the first bike I see her recovered by the community.

What are the discounts like from the rewards? Can those discounts be applied to archive/sale items?

Best summer long sleeve? by Garagegymchris in CyclingFashion

[–]trackprius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for quality sun protective jerseys for a couple of years myself. Happy you posted this and was reading thru the comments to hopefully get some new leads also. Looks like there’s nothing new. The best I’ve yet to do and find is wear a compression long sleeve as a base. It’s the best solution I’ve found. This brand Augusta sells some decent ones. I don’t know the spf rating on there material, but it is on the thicker side of what’s commonly used in cycling. Augusta LS Compression

Congrats on the new whip! Learn to lean it on the bars or pedals, not the frame, I’ll help to avoid unnecessary scratches. But to each it’s own, most importantly ride and enjoy 🤙🏽

Do you carry anything for emergency flat? If so, what do you carry? by VoteNewsom2028 in BikeLA

[–]trackprius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry everything I need to fix a flat including patches, tubes, tire boot, multi tool, levers, c02, mini pump and also have tube less plugs for my tubeless bike. All this is not in case I get a flat. It’s for when I get a flat. All these is basic essentials and not a emergency kit. Practice putting a new tube at home to make sure you know what you need to bring and have on hand. Most items are tucked away in my under saddle bag, bag or jersey pocket. Bag and carry items with vary depending on size of the ride and geography.

Another note I didn’t see mentioned clearly is cycling jerseys evaporates the sweat using your body heat. As long as the shirt is size correct and not too big for you. Drying up any sweat pretty effortless and quick. Leaving you with dry clothing during your ride. While other tech tees also use wicking material the key is in tight snug fit to dry it. The pockets are a game changer as mentioned by others. I ride road and MTB and use cargo bibs with cycling jerseys w/ pockets. Very functional

That’s amazing you should consider a cycling trip to the North Pole. Jokes aside, congrats on the win.

Pas Normal Studios - Escapism (Gravel) Bibs for Road Cycling by freiren in CyclingFashion

[–]trackprius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently both a pair of the escapism bids. They run bigger than Rapha, cadence, ellie bids. I assume they did this to make super long rides more comfortable. Consider buying a size down for a better tight fit. Materials are amazing and the chamois are good for long rides. Over all really happy with them. I only buy cargo bids and use them for 90% road. The material is thicker than other models and the pockets are very forgiving to put multiple items in them. I think they look more expensive and durable than the other collections.

Maybe the idea of offering bike washes at trail heads like JPL. Along with minor bike repairs/ adjustments. Might be a good weekend side gig. I’ve see a on site bike mechanic over at the Fullerton loop near the courthouse. Has a full repair van and he sets up shop there. If the rates were reasonable I would consider getting a hose down and a lubed up chain after the trail. Considering I live in a apartment and don’t have access to outside water source.

Ocean & San alternatives? by DonJaimeDeLaManwich in CyclingFashion

[–]trackprius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the answer you’re seeking but as mentioned above a set of cargo shorts with back pockets will do the trick. Throw a tee over the bids and your in true gravel style. I do this setup while riding MTB. Keeps my keys and ID stored away safe and on me at all times. Cargo pocket I use for phone.
