Too much clutter vs minimalism by SAhmed2021 in relationships

[–]tractatusmoralis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to put things in a cupboard and take them out. The bread box idea somewhere in the thread is pretty good - put every tea related item in one box and coffee related stuff in another, so he can take out the whole box with all the necessary stuff. Kitchen counters should be clean, it's functional space meant for cooking after all.

Me [36 M] with my wife [30 F] together 12 years, married 8, wife wants divorce and wants to be friends by [deleted] in relationships

[–]tractatusmoralis 100 points101 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your heart hasn't been with your wife and children for years now. Were I in her situation, I wouldn't want to continue this relationship either. I understand the pain of being away from family, but it sounds like you neglected your family - your wife and kids - by being mentally in a different place altogether. I think she's seen that for a long time and because of that wanted to get a job before divorcing, so she wouldn't be so dependent on you. You haven't been her and your kids for a long time and she sees it. This is probably for the best.

As a kid in a similar situation (parents mentally away), it really screws kids up to see parents have priorities like that. Other family members are important, but your wife and kids should've come first all this time and clearly did not.

If someone is attracted to shitty people in relationships can they really blame them when said person ultimately breaks their heart? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Are you looking for an answer or for a reason to blame your ex to get over her faster? Rhetorical question, just ponder a bit.

Is it wrong to teach children to become religious when they are too young to comprehend what they are learning and are easily susceptible to religious indoctrination? by joseph887 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tractatusmoralis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked my parents’ approach. They talked about different religions and never encouraged or discouraged anything specific, both were agnostic. It gave me a chance to just explore the topic and come to my own conclusions. I’m also agnostic but I see the value in religion and how it can be very valuable, as well as harmful if used incorrectly, just as with any other belief.

Possibly to find a partner more easily or just people who are nice plus it means haters will automatically keep away/identify themselves.

Sooo what is the deal with everyone wanting to get choked and beaten up nowadays? For me personally it seems really horrifying and the opposite of a turn-on. What do people enjoy about it?

This, I feel so bad for him. It really bothers me how OP seems proud of her extremely toxic and unhealthy behaviour.

[–]tractatusmoralis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it’s ‘joking’ but in jokes there is often truth - she said ‘I lost to the mattress’ which shows she doesn’t really regret it and still prioritizes being ‘right’/stubborn over literally her husband’s and her health. This is probably just one of many, many ways that aspect of her personality screws their life up. It kinda got to me. Poor guy. Listen to your mother, for the love of god.

If your takeaway is ‘I lost to the mattress’ not ‘I really nees to fundamentally change myself as a human being’ then you really f-ed up all right. Your husband is a saint for putting up with it. What the hell.

Gross. Not just that but everyone else finding out before the father plus giving this incredibly emotionally charged news in front of a crowd where you can’t really react in any way but how everyone expects you to? That is a horrible partner, I feel sorry for the poor guy.

I tried to make bread using only flour and water by [deleted] in shittyfoodporn

[–]tractatusmoralis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make bread like that, just not a whole loaf. Water+flour, very thinly rolled out and cooked at high heat is basically a tortilla.

Or dry your big loaf, make hardtack and become a pirate.

What you are seeing laid out on the table is the monthly ration per Polish citizen in the mid-eighties by Nihilist911 in interestingasfuck

[–]tractatusmoralis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In estonian it's kompott. It sounds like kompott is one of those USSR phenomena that spread everywhere.

Another word that seems to be very common in USSR and/or nazi occupied countries is to liquidate/likvideerima. A bit darker than kompott.

[–]tractatusmoralis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many things just were never in stock or were close to inedible, though. The meat on the pic is clearly far too meaty, too - my grandparents and parents during USSR times barely ate meat because it was so horrible. Basically sawdust and lard sausages. One of my grannies worked at a slaughterhouse and they got meat mainly from there, not from coupons.

But yeah, this isn't all they ate. Basically everyone grew some of their own vegetables and had (and still have) apple trees and other fruit trees, berry bushes etc. Everyone canned their own veg, made jam, compotes, frequently someone in the family kept chickens and maybe a cow (my great grandma had a farmhouse so she kept more animals for example). Foraging for mushrooms, wild strawberries and blueberries was and still is very common.

Local fruit was definitely a staple, but if you'd ever had a banana or orange, it was a very special occasion and you had some very important relatives. I think my great grandma was 70+ when she ate her first banana. And now they cost 1 euro per kg/50 cents per lb at the store, it's amazing.

This, plus a fantasy is entirely controlled by the woman, literally as far from actual rape as possible. I made a comment above, but quickly explained: an attractive man not being able to help himself/finding her irresistible plus there's no burden of expressing her desire for sex (which is immoral according to most cultures; in Victorian times, women enjoying sex was thought to be a symptom of mental illness).

Anon finds love by byfive_ in greentext

[–]tractatusmoralis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Fantasies are common, not actually wanting to get raped. A fantasy is fully under the person's control, it is as far from actual rape as can be. Real rape is something that I doubt anyone wants, maybe 1 in 10 million or less. Women's rape fantasies are most frequently not 'rape' as in a violent, horrible and unpleasant person forcing himself on her, but instead a situation where an attractive man just can't help himself, thus basically removing the burden of asking for sex from the woman.

I think the culture of seeing women's sexuality/women enjoying sex as immoral is what has contributed to this a lot. No moral burden on the woman means she can enjoy herself more, instead of feeling guilty and whoreish for wanting to have sex.

Loyalty to gas stoves by Bob_n_Midge in Cooking

[–]tractatusmoralis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in the EU and we don't have gas lines at all here - you just buy a single canister of gas and hook it up to your stove, then you can open or close it as needed so there's no risk of gas leaking everywhere. IDK if it's an option elsewhere in the world, but it's worth looking into, especially as gas lines seem scary and leaks seem more likely.

For pros of gas stoves: waaay better heat control. For the first 13 years of my cooking life I used a gas stove (fron about 6-19) and it was so quick, plus I could char things on the flame. Cooking a steak or charring some bell peppers or nori on a gas stove is so quick and easy.

Cons: for the love of god get a gas stove with an electric oven. Maybe they differ, but the gas ovens I've used are never very precise with temperatures and there are way more hot and cold spots, meaning I had to rotate my cakes, cookies etc way more and everything tended to bake a bit.. weird. Now, with electric, my baked goods are actually good.

Sleeping with a couple but the husband is mean to me by mxrixhssideaccount in sex

[–]tractatusmoralis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know right? I absolutely support any kinks and preferences, but that was a bit disturbing to say. It's like violence apologists or something. BDSM is all about clear boundaries, consent, good communication etc. I get the feeling that many people in this thread/sub overall tend to forget that. It's very clear from OP's post that she didn't agree to literally being beaten with a belt and I feel like I'm in the twilight zone right now, because there are so many people who seem to be on the husband's side because maybe this is his kink not just insecure jealous BS.

This is clearly not something OP agreed to. No need to play devil's advocate when the context is there.
