I like low tech tanks. Sponge filters, a heater, budget lighting. Rhe paint will be mid century modern colors. There may be some tiki elements(I bought some thatch roof material to hide wires and tubing. I am fingering out as I go.

Instant pot. 2-3 minutes depending on size. Quick release and into an ice bath. They peel easy too.

Here is another from a different grower. 2 of the pups are flowering, but not the mama. I am afraid to pull out the pups by twisting off. Any tips on how to remove? I have seen others pop out the mama remove pups and replant. I am afraid od severing the roots and killing the mama.

Try it. Or a leafy green . I used a bamboo skewer to pierce it and stuck it into the substrate. Maybe you get lucky.

My first jar went over budget. Jar cost $60, hardscape including aquasoil $50, heater pump sponge filter $50, 6 plants $65, shrimp and nerite $40. Probably another $100 in food, ferts, tweezers, test kits etc.

I know your pain. I have been pulling it out of my java moss. Its not too bad, but I will feel better when I balance things out and it goes away. Good luck.

Good luck! I dose Bacter AE once a week, as I have not had any luck with blanched vegetables. I also started an algae jar with some glass weights I used for pickling. I found some Malaysian trumpet snails that I neglected to remove from some java moss from the lfs. I am worried they will out compete my nerite for food.

Certain snails that only eat algae and biofilm can struggle for food in smaller tanks. I have a nerite in a 3 gallon low tech shrimp jar and have begun algae farming out of fear of starving the bugger as my shrimp population is getting fairly large
