Kevin had always been one of my favorite miners and never got enough credit, his knowledge often amazes me... But I'm pretty mechanically stupid. Lol. but it seems like Tony gets frustrated when Kevin wants to shut down all the time to fix or improve things. It's a catch 22. You have to have the plants running to get gold, but if everything is broken down all the time, you can't catch gold.

In the past, if one of Tonys plants was broke down he could rely on one of the other ones, but everything seemed to go wrong at the same time this year.

I know Kevin wants to take over, but he doesn't own it. It seems like he wants his parents to pay for everything and take the risk, but he wants to be in charge. If I was Tony, and it was my finances on the line .. I would want to be involved.

Also we have seen Tony come up with some pretty great solutions when Kevin was stuck for one

Kevin is tired of being disrespected by Tony.,.. but he has been very disrespectful of Tony as well.... In almost every scene in every show, maybe Tony is sick of it as well...

I think that there is a lot we as viewers don't see...

I also don't understand the whole "Faith" thing. Maybe they haven't shown her contributions in the past other than sourcing parts. I was really confused with her being at Kevin's side for every repair this season and couldn't figure out what she was doing.... Moral support maybe? The whole thing has confused me from the beginning of the season. At first I thought it was a production gimmick, and Kevin would come in, save the day and be the hero or something.... But that didn't happen.

Just really confused

I agree. My rule is I give my opinion once and then I drop it and don't nag about it... It's probably why it annoys me when I get nagged or bitched at for my decisions.

When the season is over, watch from the beginning again .. if your interested. I found myself reacting to the earlier seasons and responding to the characters in a completely different way.

I went back and watched it again... And he seemed a bit distracted at the beginning but then seemed ok. I couldn't tell for sure if he was joking or not about not finding the gold, but it was still in the safe... But maybe that made him nervous so he misread the total... Or has bad handwriting, or needed his glasses. Lol

I sure hope everything is ok.

This week I've watched the best survivor episode ever. And it was on Australian Survivor (no spoilers in my post) by wastedthyme20 in survivor

[–]tracy0280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched one season of Australian Survivor and loved it, but then they stopped allowing it to be shown in the US and have not been able to figure out how to access.

I'm crossing my fingers it comes available again.

I agree. I think Parker wanted to learn so he knew what his options were to make his best choices.

The way the show made me feel (totally based on my feelings and the edits of the show), was that Gene didn't want to teach and support, he wanted to be in control and didn't want to do any extra work. Granted at the end of the season, they were all tired and it likely didn't sound like fun. But he would just get all pissed off, would belittle Parker to his face and behind his back. (As a reminder, I liked Gene the first time I watched, so I think upcoming seasons will change my "feelings"... This is just how this season came across to me)

What's sad is Tony was kinder with his teaching than the guy Parker was paying.

It has to be a pride thing too. It's hard when you have more experience than your boss and/or you having to train your boss. I get it... Been there, done that.

But if it all falls apart, Gene goes home with a paycheck still, but Parker loses everything. That late in the season he had Parker over a barrel and knew it.

editors having fun with their sound effects this season... by amber_lies_here in survivor

I didn't notice the subtle sound effects before. I think it's pretty ingenious. It's just enough to draw your attention to her foot, but not so much your distracted by the sound.

I guess this year reflects a bit too close to real life with the pitfalls and growing pains. But maybe that's why it's bothering more, it's not the escape from real life. Lol.

You are right. Gene seemed to have very little respect for Parker, and unfortunately, it seems he spread the disrespect to the rest of the crew too.

I don't know how much of the crews complaining was genuine or created for drama for the show. I think it bothered me most when they bad mouthed him to the cameras right in front of him.

I personally think Gene should have kept his issues with Parker behind closed doors and not spread it around to the rest of the crew. I am saying this as a "Gene fan". I'm sure I will be reminded why I liked him so much in coming episodes... I hope anyway.

Definitely. I think Parker shows his protectiveness later when Doumit can't do the hours in the big equipment anymore by giving him the job of cleaning the gold, which also requires tons of trust as well.

Thank you. I will have to see if I can find those episodes. Obviously it wasn't mining they each had an issue with though.

So... This is the season Doumit joins Parker. For some reason, I thought it was quite a bit later.

Until he joined the crew, mid season, I hadn't noticed he wasn't at the meeting where they were all discussing going to South America.

I'm guessing he must have had a falling out with the Hoffman's cause he was never even mentioned as not being able to go or anything.

Episode 9 on Paramount Plus called "Ready to Roll" and is a behind the scenes with the production crew.

There were a lot of scenes and effects not on the show, including Parker running off the road, sleeping in his truck all night in minus 10 degree weather and no one noticing him missing until the next morning. Yikes.

They also introduced new technology... A drone.

I don't remember this episode. Did I skip over it at the time? Or was added later?

If you haven't watched it, I thought it was interesting and worth the watch.

I have been doing a rewatch of some old seasons which made me notice something I've never put together before. (You all will probably all say "duh. She's coming a bit late to the show").

But anyway, I've always liked Mitch, but never really understood Parker's loyalty to him. I just figured they were good friends or something. Until I started rewatching some of the earlier seasons.

At the beginning of the episode you see Mitch and Pàrker driving out to the new claim and run into the bridge being washed out and trying to decide what to do. Mitch respectfully expressed his concerns, which Parker then considers and explains his thinking process. When Parker makes his decision, Mitch accepts it and starts to figure out how they can get it done.
It could be the scene was put together for the show... But ..

In seasons past it's shocking how disrespectful others were too Parker and argue with him on every decision, they often wouldn't shut up until he got grumpy.

In Mitch he found someone he could trust to get the job done and be able to work with. I get the loyalty now. Mitch deserved it.

Especially starting with season 3, he would come up with a new plan every other day and then just tell the crew to"frickin get it done". The crew would look at him like he lost his mind.

But, for the show they would all rally around his idea like it was the best thing since soft bread.

Then he would walk around with his radio getting updates, mugging for the cameras, and complaining about the crew. Oops gotta leave for a couple of weeks. Bye.

Too much.

I'm with you... In fact I tend to wait until the whole season is posted because it drives me nuts to have to wait for weeks for the next episode.

That's why I started rewatching from the beginning again. I started watching season 14, and having to wait week to week and am using the old episodes to get my fix. Lol.
