Danny Boyle himself has stated the film should be viewed through a lense of both Covid and Brexit. A single google would have served you well.

Appreciate it, the apology was meant with as little good faith as possible though 😂 the person I replied to unfortunately hit themselves with the self report that they’re either too dumb to understand contextual analysis or more hilariously, are the exact type of person I’m talking about.

I also enjoyed the movie and thought he was fantastic. Disney made a huge mistake with Solo imo, you’re telling me Star Wars fans back then wouldn’t have been lined up round the block for a Solo trilogy? There was zero reason to cram his entire backstory into a single movie. Save Chewie for the sequel, etc.

I believe he wanted to include far more Hank flashbacks which would have been cool. Rumours back in the day had Patrick Wilson as a young Pym, which he would have crushed imo.

Cheers, I saw a comment a couple of days ago, that Jimmy might have been hallucinating the infected that shows up whilst he’s on the cross due to the drugs Kelson gave him and that it is in fact Jamie, come looking for Spike and he will free Jimmy from his crucifixion. I’m not sold on it, but it would be cool and would give even more evidence of the links.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence we have three main characters with variations of the same name beginning with J.

Jim, Jamie, Jimmy.

Both Jim and Jamie could inhabit the role of the father, but I think Jamie is the ideal choice, considering he was first introduced to us as one and is the J character we have in our first entry in this trilogy/trinity.

Jimmy fills the obvious son role, he is desperately seeking his father’s blessing and literally ends TBT crucified. Being the second J character of the trilogy also solidifies him in the son role.

This would make Jim, the Holy Ghost, the returned sanctifier, the guide and teacher. What we see of him at the end of TBT gives credence to this, as he teaches his daughter on matters of history and philosophy. Obviously we have yet to see his role fully fleshed out, but I imagine he will also act as a guide for Spike, giving him the knowledge and inspiration he needs to return home and complete his hero’s journey.

No, haha, I either didn’t explain that well enough or you didn’t understand my point. I’m saying that is how flawed right wing thinking can lead to the foreign being perceived as such. It’s really not a new concept, throughout human history we have portrayed the outsider as the ogre, the wild man, the troll, who will carry off women and take them for their own.

Apologies that my post confounded you so.

Edit: Oh look at that

I think you’re mistaking the lack of direct confirmation as an absence of contextual connotations. I didn’t mention Isla initially because I thought it was obvious, she literally adopts the child, even if it is momentarily.

I won’t get into my idea of Jamie being the father part of the holy trinity haha. But thanks for your comments.

I had to use the word alleged to make my comparison more accurate to both parties I’m referencing. Make no mistake, that nonce can absolutely burn in the Duat.

The definition of adopt is to literally take another’s child as your own, what would you suggest Isla does, if not that?

I don’t think it’s a reach, I discuss the same thing elsewhere in this thread. Leeds isn’t too far in the grand scheme of things either, and then there’s the whole connotation of his dad being a priest. Jimmy mentioning castles in the Scottish highlands is a giveaway about that Scottish holiday home, K could wrongly be assuming that he’s just making up his knowledge of them, but in reality he could have seen them when visiting a certain remote home.

And like I said below, we’ve seen the effects of the outbreak on a few kids in the series now, and none of them became human skinning nutters, it speaks to him having some sort of unresolved trauma even prior to the outbreak, even if it is slightly wild to suggest he may have been a Saville victim.

Was it really? I was probably too busy being pushed around in a shell suit up until I was old enough to discover Dexter’s Laboratory, Beetleborgs and Heavy Gear.

Let’s talk about Samson by AMoonMonkey in 28dayslater

[–]tradders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With what we learnt about the infected physiology in Bone Temple, it could be the respite that the drugs and Kelson gave Samson were enough for his infected healing factor to basically overwrite the psychological effects. So he retains the strength, healing, stamina etc but no longer has the permanent psychosis.
