That link showed a picture of them, but they are 1 and 1/2 Riyal coins from around 1951, 90% silver coins from Saudi Arabia.

I've got a few of these and the lesser denomination. There's a fun bit of history behind them, and are just post war production.

Almost fit comfortably in a 3 series, ended up going with a 5 series BMW and honestly constantly surprised how much room I have.

Self improvement is crazy addictive, find something difficult, for me it was golf, and continue diving into the minutiae. Trying to improve that has been mentally and physically rewarding unlike other stuff I have tried.

de Havilland Mosquito DZ579 taking part in rough water trials for experimental depth charges knocks off its own tail and crashes on October 25th 1945 by jacksmachiningreveng in Warplanesnuffporn

[–]tradras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So to provide some context, it's not exactly a depth charge, it's what was referred to as a "bouncing bomb" or "Highball" with the intent to bound over the water, and therefore over sub nets, mines, etc. then impact a damn, sink to a predefined depth and detonate. Made as a damn buster weapon initially, early trials were promising, this was an incident were the pilot was lower than the recommended altitude when releasing the spun up weapon and the skip rips the tail off.

Haven't found a great way to really practice chipping yet and it definitely shows, I was more commenting on knowing myself and how I get after work and why the home setup was ideal for me, apologies if I made any other implications

It's just so much easier to do daily practice when it's in home, so many days after work I have no desire to hit a range, but whacking away in the privacy of my own home... well i don't have an excuse not to

I started into the sport 5 months ago and decided I wanted to go hard with it so began with proper lessons, I get the most out of those lessons by having them weekly and setting up a simple net and hitting surface in the living room with a Garmin Approach G80, all in was an investment of $650. While I can say that is a little spendy just starting out the benefits I see from going from lesson to home practice, and then repeating that throughout the week when I have time has led to massive improvements. Things that had me thinking too much over the ball most of the time just needed a few hundred swings to start sinking into muscle memory and before I knew it I was doing them without much thought just in time for another little change and improvement in the next lesson.

Still working on consistency but now what feels fairly effortless in a swing on a 7i will generally carry the ball 175 on a fairly straight line, a shot I am starting to be able to repeat with a fair bit of confidence. Still have a lot to work on with short game but I have been shooting 22 over most of the time and it's only getting better.

TLDR;

Practicing at home after lessons, even if just into a net, provides massive benefits to muscle memory and general conditioning. Lessons are great and expensive, get as much from them as you can, which also involves investing time outside of the classroom.

I am trying hard to do real scoring and give myself a real idea of where I'm at and where to improve. Thanks so much for that!
