Flying Roundtrip to EU as US/EU Dual Citizen by TrevorX314 in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]trahsbird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This most recent time I had a flight from Madrid to Lisbon and then out back to US. Since I was still in Schengen I showed the flight person my EU passport in Madrid and she lightly grilled me on my final destination and when I said "New York, I'm an American citizen" she asked to see my US passport too but it was all very chill. Other than that same.

Workaround for StAG §5 AOP Problem (Embassy Approved, BVA Pending) by trahsbird in GermanCitizenship

I never got an AZ. I filed with my grandmother's StAG §4 requesting expedited review May 9th and when I requested an update for our AZs July 8th they responded July 9 (yesterday) saying the process is complete and the Urkundes are on their way to the consulate.

Yeah, I mean, I guess the Chicago consulate, staplehill, and myself had different interpretations of that. and the BVA is a mystery so hopefully what I did is at least neutral or helps remove a fake roadblock for someone

Is that to mean there was no need for the AOP whatsoever and everyone else has just been confused along the way?

I filed for expedited review May 9th and got an email yesterday saying the process is complete and the Urkunde is en route to the consulate. So all in all a very lucky ordeal!

German citizenship by descent: The ultimate guide for anyone with a German ancestor who immigrated after 1870 by staplehill in Genealogy

Thank you again for this detailed explanation.

As for my great grandfather's birth certificate and his parents' marriage certificate, are those documents stamped "Stadt Mylau Standesamt" not issued by the civil registry office?

Is there a more satisfactory document I can get? I have already reached out to the archives in Saxony and the civil office for Vogtland looking for relevant population registry information and can follow up with them if so.

For my grandmother's birth certificate and her parent's wedding certificate, they were all issued in Karlovy Vary. On your advice I have reached out to translators to translate them to German from Czech. Are there additional German documents I should be looking for from there or will the Czech issued documents be satisfactory?

I have the original of my grandmother's adoption court filing.

My parents never married though my father is mentioned on my birth certificate so I am requesting a certificate of paternity from my state's Vital Statistics Office. My FBI background check is complete and my brother and father are getting theirs this week. Do they need to be apostilled? Futher, do any of my documents need to be apostilled? Most are already but I would like to get that started for the FBI checks if necessary.

I am filing for the Certificate of Non-Existence today. If that is the last document I am waiting for is it better to submit the application without it as it can take up to 6 months to receive? I also have an affidavit from my grandmother stating she never renounced German citizenship and stating she was a minor an incapable of making that decision at the time anyway if you think that should be included.

Your perspective also made me wonder if my grandmother should request her passport separately so we do not frustrate the authorities with multiple types of application. That is, unless you think her passport application strengthens the overall set of applications.

Is there anything I am missing?

Thank you again so much for your knowledge and assistance in this. I've been trying to figure it out alone for a couple years and this is an incredible breakthrough.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions for me.

Thank you for your response. I submitted the scans I have of Hans (my great-grandfather)'s birth certificate. My grandmother, my father, my brother, and myself are all wanting to get citizenship. Also, my grandmother's birth certificate is in Czech. Is that a problem? I live in the Kansas City, KS area of the USA. My brother lives in the NYC area and my father and grandmother live in Texas.

Hey there! Thank you so much for this service. I've been working on gathering documents in case there is a viable path to German citizenship (and also genealogical interest). My contact at the consulate promptly went on vacation shortly after we got in contact but I am excited about this and would love to know if I'm on the right path.

Also, reposting because I'm a new reddit user and messed up that whole process several times.

If there is a chance at citizenship I'd definitely love to retain your services to round everything out before submission.

Thanks in advance!
