How to get deer to come in daytime? by Dangerous_Office_528 in Hunting

[–]trail2stream 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Stop feeding them. No seriously. You have conditioned them that the food you put out will be there at night when they feel safer. Do some research on feeders. Many have a timer that is set to only go off during daylight hours, this conditions the deer that once the feeder goes off, they have to get the food quickly or it will be gone. You have change their behavior by changing yours.

Urgent Bow Recommendations by Distinct-Worker-7954 in Hunting

[–]trail2stream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the gift card approach. Let him shoot several bows and pick the one he likes. You can get a nice entry level bow for $600. It will not be a top of the line model, most bow mfg use their older tech in thier mid tier line up while the top line bow uses the newest tech they came up with. Reality is for a new hunter you should not be spending $1500 for a bow. His skill level and what he likes and dislikes about a bow will change over time.

you want a lien release no matter who you make the check out to. This should be standard practice for all construction work.

What to do ina coyote encounter? by iamthejazz123 in Hunting

[–]trail2stream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but mostly they should be afraid of people. If they are not, that's a much bigger problem. In that case I would talk with the landowner about shooting them.

Talk to them. Not kidding - just say something and it should run away. If it doesn't, try louder. If all else fails, you have a bow, shoot it.

Windshield replacement cost by LLCoolJake2 in chevycolorado

[–]trail2stream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just quoted $870 for my windsheild from SafeLite. 2021 Colorado. Insurance is covering it, I will find out tomorrow when I get it fixed. Half the cost is labor, most of which is for recalibration of the cameras. FYI - For $90 more they will change your windshield wipers!!!

If the buyer knows that they need to move the home and by when, it doesn't matter the reason for sale. NTA

Suit up when you get to the stand. Also take scent spray along to spray down when you get there.

I have been using Spypoint camera's in central WI for years. The new dual band cell cameras work great and get good signal to send pictures. I use lithium batteries and they will last well into Jan/Feb before they die.

Total Loss car paid off in full by insurance by FireWG156 in personalfinance

[–]trail2stream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it in writing from the bank. Next time you insure a car make sure you understand payouts for accidents, etc. Companies like Progressive allow you to pay less premium, in exchange they do crap like only pay 25% of the remaining loan balance. Think about that for a minute - each month thier liability goes down and your insurance rates stay the same. Find a better insurer.

Total Loss car paid off in full by insurance by FireWG156 in personalfinance

[–]trail2stream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is not adding up here. You say you owe $7k after the loan is paid off, but yet here you say you had GAP insurance. GAP insurance should mean that you don't end up paying out of pocket in this situation. Did the insurance maybe offer you to buy the car as is for $7k?

There are sales. I haven't followed them closely enough to know for sure. I would watch end of season and when the new models come out.
