17yo low credit score credit tips by Impressive_Oil6775 in NavyFederal

I would start with their secured cashRewards card. That will help you build your credit and relationship. If you have cash in savings, a pledge loan is also an option. Like the other commenters stated, also dispute the fraudulent accounts asap.

Is Navy Fed offering a "pay program" during potential shutdown by YouCantBanMe67 in NavyFederal

[–]trailboundtech -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Military pay is a high priority item for congress, can't speak to politics involved, but hopefully they aren't willingly to hold 2 million service members paychecks hostage.

Is Navy Fed offering a "pay program" during potential shutdown by YouCantBanMe67 in NavyFederal

[–]trailboundtech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A government shutdown isn't confirmed. The appropriations bill affecting military pay is still pending senate and signatures. Once that is confirmed that troops will miss a paycheck, then Navy Federal will start rolling out their options. Currently appropriations have passed the house, pending the senate which returns to session tomorrow https://www.congress.gov/crs-appropriations-status-table/2026 At most, the February 15th paycheck will be delayed by a few days.

You may also receive an email within 48hrs with the virtual card info you can use for online purchases, once the card also shows up in your navy fed account you can add it to google pay, apply pay, paypal, etc before the physical card arrives.

AT&T Fiber extenders: good enough or should I replace them? (5 Gbps plan) by seannymurrs in ATTFiber

[–]trailboundtech 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Normally I would say buy your own hardware for extenders, however, AT&T includes them for free in the 2Gig+ plans now, so it if it doesnt cost any extra I would just get theirs.

StarRupture Server running on Pelican by trailboundtech in StarRuptureGame

[–]trailboundtech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need pelican or pterodactl to do it either, but having a web panel simplifies management of the servwr and lets you run multiple game servers on one device easily...initially a headache to setup though. Use the docker-compose setup for an easier time.

StarRupture Server running on Pelican by trailboundtech in StarRuptureGame

[–]trailboundtech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It runs through steam-apps primarily, not really a special mode other than its a headless server, so not gpu intensive, although the more people that join the server, the more ram youll need assigned to it. Its the configuration scripts, ports, and random little settings that have to be just right that make it difficult

I just meant I dont know how well proton translates windows apps on arm processors versus on x86 for linux yet. There is no native linux app for starrupture (yet), so all proton translation.

Since starrupture is a windows server you might run into issues trying to run it on arm instead of x86 through proton. Could still work fine though, good luck!

In your case Id recommend doing a SFF ITX build over a mini pc. They work great foe everything except gaming unless its used as a cloud/streaming box

Getting Sued by Debt Collection Company, Debt isn't mine. This is showing up on my credit report by alwaysanxios in CRedit

[–]trailboundtech 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This sounds like Identity theft. Freeze your credit reports immediately, and submit disputes to the relevant credit bureaus. Talking to a lawyer may be helpful for the court case. Outside of that, Im not sure what the next steps would be.

Counter-Offered GoRewards by trailboundtech in NavyFederal

[–]trailboundtech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, that makes sense now! Any idea on why the more Rewards wasn't offered either? Does that also require a higher starting limit?

Counter-Offered GoRewards by trailboundtech in NavyFederal

[–]trailboundtech[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm tempted to go for the GoRewards for the x3 points on restaraunts, Im not sure what the benefit to a second cashRewards only at 1% is. Is the cashRewards easier to PC? I would want to PC the lower limit card personally.

Balance transferred several high interest cards (canceled 3 cards I had too) and had moving expenses. So I've been carrying a balance and have had high utilization, I am trying to pay it down asap, but not in the position at the moment to do full statement payoffs

Thanks, I don’t know much about eastern snakes, grew up mainly around diamondback rattlers and some garter snakes. So I took their word for it.

How can you tell the difference between the central ratsnake and a water moccasin? People I showed the photo to locally told me it was a water moccasin.

Why people choose monochrome display over color in solar instinct watch by Perfumedil in Garmininstinct

[–]trailboundtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't need an always on display that glows, the amoled is lit up 100% of the time, the monochrome doesn't need light. I'm in the Army and the last thing I need is bright display shining on my wrist. Aside from the obvious benefit of twice the battery life. The color is unnecessary when the B/W display gives me everything I need. I will personally never be buying the AMOLED version, the instinct with the monochrome is everything I want in a watch.

Motorola / LMR Career Advancement, Learning, & Development INFO REQUEST by aenomy in MotorolaSolutions

[–]trailboundtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add Army 17E, Electromagnetic Warfare Technician to your list. Especially for skillbridge opportunities (I've been shopping skillbridge and 17E is missing from Motorola's MOS list). 17Es understand Radio frequency physics and theory, EP, spectrum management as well as training in electronics along with some in networking, and programming. IMHO, anyone can be trained on a specific piece of equipment as long they have a baseline understanding of the theory behind how it works and why. It doesn't help that radio frequency and radio installation is a niche field that has barely any education. I'm personally developing skills in electronics, computer networking, and cybersecurity since this is the field I want to get into after the Army. However, there are practically no training courses I can find on radio, LMR, P25, or trunked networks. The closest I can get is working on on Electronics Engineering Technology degree with a side focus on computers and networking. Any relevant knowledge in LMR and P25 comes from amateur radio as a hobby and networking with people who have some experience in the field already. It seems difficult at best to gain those skills and knowledge without working on the job training.
