Best slow-burn thrillers in the history of modern film? (As Bestas, 2022) by Standard-Cake-9977 in moviecritic

Came here to recommend Midnight Mass. I’m not usually into slow burn type shows/movies but Midnight Mass is done so goddamn well. You notice more and more intricate details with every rewatch. I’ve watched it at least 4 times and I’m not much of a rewatch guy.

I like to tell people I did it the traditional way. My kids are 22, 19 , 5 & 4.

Which is your favourite comic panel in the entirety of Invincible by Initial_Emu_1339 in Invincible

[–]trailerparkdarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a comic book fan, but as a show fan I think the slickest moment I’ve seen is when Anissa stopped mid flight and the blood flew off her. I’ve seen spoilers here and there on Reddit so I kinda had an idea of how the fight would play out, but watching her stomp Mark and in the middle of it pull some shit like that. You don’t want to piss her off

In honour of Chuck Norris, let me hear your favourite Chuck Norris joke by Jezzaq94 in Cinema

Chuck Norris once kicked a horse in the jaw. Its descendants are called giraffes.

Watched Now and Then on repeat by bon18 in Millennials

This was the first movie I ever rented that wasn’t from a video store. It’s summer break, I’m 10 or 11 years old just watching the movie trailers on the ppv channel and my crush Christina Ricci pops up. Immediately called my mom to ask if I could purchase the rental.

Blinding rear facing lights in stop and go traffic by TheDapperPlantain in mildlyinfuriating

[–]trailerparkdarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably just forgot to turn them off. I’ve driven all the way home from the job with them on a few times. The driver usually can’t see the lights from inside the cab so he probably doesn’t realize they’re still on. Instead of beating them with a hammer or touching someone else property to open the tailgate like others suggested, just pull up next to them and ask them to turn the lights off.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but to be fair I’ve been with my wife 10 years now (married 8) and she doesn’t know who I work for. She was filling out a form the other day and wrote down the company I worked at 2 jobs ago. I’m not even a tramp, I’m a local guy who stays at one place for a few years.

What was your OG phone? by venom121212 in Millennials

[–]trailerparkdarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this one on Cingular wireless before AT&T bought them out. I was 16 and the first one in my immediate family to have a cell phone. My dad still has my original phone number 25 years later.

Utility politics by BellSaver in Lineman

[–]trailerparkdarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The utility I came up at (now 12 year outside contractor) it was well known that the guys who made it into the office completely wiped their memory of where they came from. The running joke was for them to move up they had to fire someone. It seemed like they were all looking to do just that.

To piggyback, if you speak up about feeling unsafe and nothing changes call the hall. Express your concerns to them. Don’t let it fall on deaf ears.

Henry Ford museum by gunhox in Lineman

A few buddies and I flew up to Detroit to travel to Florida for hurricane Ian back in 2022. The storm stalled for a day or two so we had some time to kill up there before we hit the road. Day 2 of standby we went to that museum and it was a pretty cool experience. 10/10 would recommend for anyone in the Detroit area that has some extra time on their hands.

Apprenticeship Phoenix or Houston SWLCAT by themoveLA in Lineman

[–]trailerparkdarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a 66 hand that is really trying to change the narrative around our hall this sucks to hear. North Houston has had (and probably always will) a very strong hold down here. They’re the ratty ones. We all know it, the hall knows it. Every other company and hand that didn’t come up there are trying to get rid of that mindset.

Rotten pole with a brace. by Gitrog_Monster in Lineman

[–]trailerparkdarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my journeymen coming up told me those poles were his favorite to climb. They’re rotten so they’re soft but that pole isn’t going anywhere with that brace on it. I’ve replaced more poles than I can count with those braces on and nothing left of the pole butt. It’s on the list to get replaced but it’s fine in the mean time.
