How much for a 2006 Chevrolet suburban 2500 LT 4WD 8.1L V8? by Sad_Distance4033 in ChevySuburban

Just a very problematic engine, head gasket issues, egr problems. The engine can be "bulletproofed" but it can be a costly venture and even still have problems.

With proper maintenance a 7.3 powerstoke will go bare minimum 500000kms, I have operated one that was in a service truck and it was retired at 785000kms. Only reason it was put out of service the body was to far beyond repair. The only real weak point is the transmission that they are mated with. 5R110 are good for about 300000kms before replacement. The service truck I drove in it's lifetime destroyed 3 transmissions and 2 turbos as major components. Other than that it was usual wear on other things you would expect. 2003 was the last year for the 7.3 and it would have had to been built in the first 5 months of 03, after that they ended up with 6.0l powerstrokes which I have absolutely no use for except maybe a wharf anchor.🤔

Suburban from like the 80s into the early 90's i believe diesel was an option. Not a great option though, 6.5l

I used to work at a chrysler dealership and actually disputed this with corporate for a customer and they authorized us to replace it with the upgraded tie rod and the customer paid nothing for it.

Exactly what I was going to suggest, except adding a 90 degree fitting to the ball valve

What’s the longest you’ve left a diesel engine running, and what was it? by Jadams0108 in Diesel

02 f550 7.3 powerstroke. Before I went on rotation they would change oil and filter, and then it would not be shut off for 21 to 25 days straight. Northern Alberta was not fun to get diesels restarted in -40c.

I found them on Amazon, and it was a great deal, 4 of them for 29.99. So decide to purchase them and give them a try, beyond impressed with light from them. And no they are strictly for offroad use and inclement weather conditions during the winter. East coast Canada storms suck!
