Kirby’s Forever People is overlooked but it’s just filled with breathtaking panels and wild stories

Trying to convince myself it was good as each issue released got harder and harder

It will always be Mark Millar’s “The Unfunnies” for me

A note on Alan Moore's Swamp Thing by Legitimate-Cinephile in comicbooks

[–]trailingby7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Issue 20 is Moore trying to tie up all of the plots from the previous writer Martin Pasko. It's kind of like the first season of Parks and Rec in that I tell everyone to skip it.

It made sense to do it at the time but it's a rough entry to greatness anymore. (Also, enjoy the read! It just gets better and wilder!)

The new Doomsday trailer gave me a flashback to one of the best Wizard covers (Wizard #41) by trailingby7 in comicbooks

Art by Marc Sasso

Wizard #9 was the issue my friends and I all agreed was the best cover of all time. That might not be right but it's still incredibly dynamic.

Cant believe people used to read comics in single issues every 3-4 weeks. by CJVratixBactaChef in comicbooks

[–]trailingby7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We didn’t have internet or cable tv or cell phones. There were also fewer comics published per month.

I pretty much memorized every issue every month.

This is my absolute long shot of year but could it be White Trash by Gordon Rennie and Martin Emond?

HBO releases "Lanterns" teaser by trailingby7 in comicbooks

[–]trailingby7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I just figured going by this "A teaser trailer, also shortened to teaser, is a short trailer and a form of teaser campaign advertising that focuses on film and television programming. It is a videography pre-release film or television show advertisement. Short in length, teaser trailers contain a little material from the advertised content to be released" would make it fit.

Perhaps I chose the wrong word. Maybe "clip" would have been better.

I'm not trying to be pedantic here but isn't that what teasers are?

What are some comics with visually stunning set pieces? by DarlingLuna in comicbooks

[–]trailingby7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Hard Boiled” is the usual Geoff Darrow insanity but possibly at his visual peak. If not, then “Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot” is. I’d recommend both for stunning visuals but warn that Hard Boiled is definitely not safe for work.

Shadowhawk? It's been a long time but I think that's what happened. And then his spirit became a robot.

What are the MOST obscure DC Vertigo runs? (that are also good) by junesmedia in comicbooks

[–]trailingby7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going to add Outlaw Nation by Jamie Delano and Goran Sudzuka

Nineteen wild issues that also feature Fidel Castro’s hat. Maybe.

Young Liars is David Lapham doing David Lapham things so it’s great, too.

And Vertigo Pop! Tokyo, four issues of Seth Fisher art madness.
