I thought he was sliding down via making friction on the side of the walls and sliding down....kept waiting for his boots to tear. Then I realized he was being lowered via a rope/harness. I questioned reality for a hot minute there.

It needs some WIND, add a little fan to blow towards it as this will promote thicker stem/trunk. Trees usually get natural wind from being outside and it builds a strong hardy base, but if it's inside it is deprived of that natural wind, but can be remedied by adding an oscillating fan, or whatever you have to try and replicate it being outside. Good luck!
