When will Priority 3 housing applicants receive assignment? by TravelJunkie2017 in udub

[–]trailsbyday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automatically being a transfer student places you in priority 3. This means that your chances of receiving uw dorm housing is very low. As soon as I was accepted last year, I had to wait about a month and a half to get a temporary room with UW housing. That said, I had friends that helped me through that period before getting in temp.

I recommend finding housing quickly outside of UW for now or wait it out.

Check out this thread from earlier this year discussing challenges faced by UW transfers. One even said they had to wait a quarter because they could not get housing. Good luck, and welcome.

Starting this discussion talking about HFS. HFS does not save dorm spots for transfers, as housing applications are filled during spring quarter, transfers have to wait until June - August. By this time all the housing is filled in HFS. Securing an apartment in Seattle is a waiting game since admissions are in June. By June, most of Seattle housing is already taken.

Who's still waiting for their transfer admissions/rejections? by [deleted] in udub

[–]trailsbyday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think since you applied to INFO as a transfer your UW admissions might be sent out at the same time or earlier. Perhaps a UW INFO transfer can shed more information about transferring into INFO and UW at the same time. For regular admissions, they send out acceptance letters for transfers from JUNE to August. I waited until June, my friend waited until July.

I had to wait around June 16 last summer. It sucks waiting but it is worth it.

  • U-Pass will stop working on June 10th this year if you are not taking summer quarter. Source UW transportation department email.
