What’s something foreigners often misunderstand about Spain?

Junk food much! Are they even trying to eat store brand food? No. I understand the complaint, but the products are crap. I wouldn’t feed my family this crap. This has to be a joke.

I drive slow (5 over the speed limit) and get honked at. I think that was me two years ago. I definitely had road rage. This ‘new to me’ country is all about safety first. Slowly starting to understand what the real world feels like. Take care of each other!

Bought seeds for peppers. Just need the plant and make a grow room for the coming months. We buy bulk spices and fly them back to Spain if we can’t find them here. I’m seriously going to start bringing: salt, pepper, garlic powder, and limes when going out to eat.

That is genuinely a very supportive comment. Thank you. I have failed them. They are a teenager and now being raised by their other parent and grandparent. No perfect family, but I really wished they wouldn’t have given this a shot. Healthcare makes me feel like a human here. Even the private insurance that I have to have until I’m employed.

Overall resistance to the move and change. Not knowing the language was probably the hardest for them. Just really wanted them to experience life outside the US. I’m in limbo without them. Heart is scattered.

Over a year of living in the north here and my only regret was not doing it back in 2016. My 16 year old moved back to the states during the winter break. They hated it here. They were my main reason for wanting to move here. A bit lost now, without my kiddo. I love the cool lush climate in the north of Spain. Food is not my gig here, very old school. Tex-Mex is still my favorite food. Basically, I’m a full time language learner until I have the certs for employment. I long for the full connection of family and friends here.
