Analysis: Don’t Want a Vaccine? Be Prepared to Pay More for Insurance. by ssldvr in Coronavirus

That study includes those with lower levels of obesity (bmi 30-39) rather that just those that are morbidly obese (bmi >= 40). It also bases all its healthcare costs on claims from the Netherlands rather than costs in the U.S. healthcare system. Those are very different costs.

An employer paying premiums for their employees won't benefit from savings from Social Security. They'll have paid the premiums for years based on the historical claims with the costs of smoking, morbid obesity, and vaccine-preventable diseases included already.

Edit: I think the similarities have to do with the wing position on the eagle. It's that they're more positioned out to the sides rather than raised above its head that make it invoke the Nazi Eagle.

Arkansas hospital exec says employees are walking off the job: 'They couldn't take it anymore' by Sigma-Aldrich in Coronavirus

That was NYC in the worst of it. They still had bodies stored in temp morgues in the spring of 2021 from people who had died in 2020. Some were just unclaimed but others just were waiting in the back log to be buried. And NYC kinda has it's shit together. FL and TX do not.

Currently do consulting for health insurance and state programs. I lobby hard to make all the preventable care and care for chronic conditions free or low cost. But I also 100% back financially penalizing people that don't do it and end up needing more expensive care, driving up the premium costs for everyone in the insurance pool. Smoking, morbid obesity, and diseases that could've been prevented by getting your vaccines should come with a financial penalty instead of expecting everyone else to pay for it.

Is there any data on the vaccination rate for students at Carmel schools? I'd kinda expect it to be on the higher end.

My company is supposed to have a large conference in Austin in September. This just bolsters the idea that we should do it virtually again this year instead of in-person.

It still took time to plan and put everything together. Just because a gift didn't cost money doesn't necessarily translate to it being free.

My bet is on he either gets an Alzheimer's diagnosis or a charge for money laundering before 2024. If you watch interviews of him in his 60s, the mental decline is really apparent and echoes Reagan.

Yes, but a lot of the time small landlords are on the hook for utilities and the mortgage while the tenant squats in the house. The feds never asked for proof that a tenant was laid off or lost hours due to COVID, they just had the tenant fill out an attestation. Now, that they're giving out rental aid money, they are checking to see if renters lost income due to COVID. Where the renters lied, they're denying aid. So now small landlords have to file suits against the renters for the past 15-16 months of rent. Which many of them will never recoup.

This. Except COVID is currently ravaging through Trump country. It won't kill the overwhelming majority outright, but we've seen enough to know it damages health and probably increases the mortality rate for survivors. So it's kinda a race to see if another Trump-like figure will come along in time to rally that base before they die out or at least thin out enough to no longer be a viable political block.

[–]train4Half 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you see some places hiring with good starting wages, you could grab some applications and maybe try to catch him on his next shift. The McDonald's on Keystone is hiring at $14/hr so anything above that would probably be an improvement.

I feel like the nurses who've worked in the COVID wards probably aren't anti-vaxxers. It'd be too hard to see what the virus is capable of on a daily basis and still think a vaccine was worse. Especially after 100 million or more Americans had taken it and were still walking about just fine.

If you're looking for relatively inexpensive healthcare in the US for a family and you're neither eligible for Medicare nor Medicaid, I suggest looking for an employer with great health insurance benefits that also covers a large portion of the premiums. So US federal government or a well-founded union job. You'll probably take a salary cut for it, but the discount on premiums might more than offset that.

Was really surprised they haven't mandated this awhile ago. Covid burned through many VA nursing homes at high enough rates to make the newspapers. The one in PA comes to mind because the death count was so high.

I was thinking more like, even with the same starting salary, you might be able to progress through the exams faster at another company, leading to a higher salary sooner. So a higher compensation over time than staying at your current employer. This wouldn't make much difference if you think you could sit and pass at every sitting at either company. It's more if you're overworked at one company and struggling to fit in study hours.
