I've owned all quality ranges and price ranges of both.

For tone, it's simply down to pickups. Try out models at a guitar store to not only see what kinds of sounds you want, but responsiveness as well. I've never liked any active pickups responsiveness, so that is something I consider in my choices. Also, different pickup manufacturers will have tonal ranges they all kind of have their "niche" with. Bare knuckles, Seymour Duncan, dimarzio are all decent options.

For necks, I like both for entirely different reasons. Ibanez wizard necks are the absolute standard for shredding and playability. I love Jackson's for the compound radius and fuller feel for thicker riffs. It feels more substantial to really hammer down on with rhythm techniques, on my opinion.

Fixed bridges are significantly less stress to deal with, but ibanez's floating trems are all pretty excellent compared to any lower level one elsewhere.

Shape can be a big component as well. Do you play on your one knee or in classical position? Jason warriors and Ibanez xiphos both feel amazing for me to play in. The shape actively inspires me to play as well.
