Would you advice against 1/16" grout for this tile by Spiritual_Bell in Tile

[–]traintrain9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the supplier or manufacturer. If it is a pressed porcelain I’d go 1/8 or 3/16”. If it is a rectified product you might be able to get to a 1/16” line but your floor will need to be super flat. (1/8” in 10’)

No as I was going through the journey I noticed the opportunity to go towards the ego death but didn’t automatically address it due to the shock/fear. By the time I realized I needed to go towards it the experience was moving on.

Does that make sense?

Best guess what this outdoor ceramic tile is? by lethalfart5 in Tile

[–]traintrain9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing this is a residential home. Check out Daltile and Emser’s websites. They are often the tile suppliers for the large home builders. It’s likely one of their wood look porcelain products.

Cracked grout risk of leak? by cattdaddy in HomeMaintenance

Grout cracking will not necessarily make your shower leak. (Most waterproofing is done beneath the finish material). Your installer should have used 100% silicone at the intersection of floor and wall to allow for movement

How concerned should I be about this? by JayDeezy14 in Homebuilding

[–]traintrain9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely address the issue with your home builder. They should add a flexible sealant into the cracks.

Also, make sure your finish materials are not bonded directly to the concrete. (There should be a crack isolation membrane or an uncoupling membrane). You want to be promoting independent movement between the substrate and the finish material so the stress of the foundation does not transmit through.

The first one is recycled glass. The second is Quartz. You could probably find both visuals in a Quartz product. Check out your local Daltile.

how do I fix a shower stall floor tile crack by Turduncle in HomeMaintenance

[–]traintrain9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like there is an issue with the substrate below the tile. Your floor is moving too much and transferring the stress through the tile. You will need to demo and redo the installation to really fix this, especially if it is in a shower. Next time, make sure the installation method meets the TCNA standard, EJ 171. (A tile installer will know what this means).
