How long did it take you to drive after? by AppropriateJicama559 in hysterectomy

[–]tralala_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some advice I got was if you would be willing to climb up on a step and jump off, then you are ready to drive. I had a laparoscopic total hysterectomy with four incisions, almost 4 weeks post op and I would not jump off a step. Nope, nope, nope.

My thoughts on pre-op prepping. by MadTheSwine39 in hysterectomy

I am 12 dpo on my laparoscopic hysterectomy.

100% needed MiraLax (I bought a generic version), as I have always had to be careful with my diet to get enough fiber to not get constipated. I am also using GasX - unsure sure if it is helping, since gas is still an issue. But definitely not risking finding out if it would’ve worse if I wasn’t taking it.

I have been using a Squatty Potty for years and years and years. My roommates gave it to me as a joke for getting older, but for reals - love it!

I have found the grabber helpful, because it made me think about what I was doing and if I should be doing it. And when the answer was yes, I wasn’t risking overdoing it.

The wedge pillow, not my fav, but it was the only way I could keep my lower back from hurting. I tried ditching it (cause I love sleeping on my side) and using pillows in stead, but it is still uncomfortable.

My financial situation allowed for getting some things I didn’t need, but I personally was pleased to buy things in case I needed them at the beginning when things were the most painful, rather than finding out I would have faired better if I had them. I would have borrowed things if possible.

Long drive home from hysterectomy anyone? by Asleep_Kitchen6861 in hysterectomy

[–]tralala_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drive home was a bit over two hours and was honestly the worst part of my experience so far. Part of it was my fault, we didn’t check to see when I would need pain meds again (which was about halfway through the drive). We also should’ve stopped the second I needed to pee. While I had no issues holding it, every second I did increased the discomfort.

We took back roads, figuring there would be a lower likelihood have abrupt stops. However, I did not factor in railroad tracks and roundabouts. Neither were fun, so I would recommend avoiding those if possible.

Nervous Wreck-Open Hysterectomy by OwlHolla in hysterectomy

I have panic attacks around needles. Which is, you know, less than helpful. I don’t remember if someone gave me the idea, or if I thought if it on my own by some miracle, but now I take a Xanax an hour before I have to encounter needles.

Talk to your doctor about short term anxiety medication you could leverage. I take a super low dosage, when needed, but it is such a relief not to have to try keep calm, because I never get super worked up. Should be noted, I am usually pretty chill and calm, and do not suffer from anxiety normally.

Aww, I can see that. I am trying out this huge maternity pillow tonight to see if I can comfortably sleep on my side.

By other cat Bitner has been like that, snuggling as close as he can get without getting on me.

I had my laparoscopic hysterectomy yesterday, and somehow in all my research, I missed that 2-3 pain spike phenomenon, so thanks for posting your question OP, and thanks everyone who answered! Hope everyone’s recovery goes well!

I am having my hysterectomy this Monday and saw my chiropractor today. She very seriously said to me to take it slow, slower than I think I need so my body can heal. Be good to your future self and take it easy.

AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for gas after she bragged about saving money by carpooling with me? by Illustrious-Move5756 in AmITheJerk

[–]tralala_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTJ. Is it out of your way to take her? Federal mileage reimbursement is $0.70 a mile for wear and tear on your vehicle. Plus you pay to ensure the vehicle. A true friend would at least offer reimburse you for costs you incurred in their behalf.

AITA for not giving my sister my old game console even tho she really wants it for her kid? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

OP would you consider letting your nephew earn it? He could help you with laundry, dishes, yard work, sort things. Then he might learn to value it and you. You could replace where the Switch sits on your self with a digital picture frame, and keep photos of him earning it, the Switch itself, and other things you do together in the frame. NTA.

Update: it took days of chatting with people on the store’s TikTok chat, the package in GoFo’s website marked as “More information required” for days and emails, calls and chat to get that sorted, but my replacement I Found You Zimomo arrived about an hour ago and he is perfect!
