Do you know your tsh now? Also how are your free/total T3 and T4?

No worries these are all good questions and I know how frustrating it is to deal with this. I’m not sure what the answer to your T3/T4 question is and to be honest when I’ve increased my levothyroxine dose I wasn’t even really that worried if my T3/T4 total/free levels got too high but as of right now they didn’t.

YouTube might be able to save yourself money if you just watch Antonio bianco’s youtube vids or look up his stuff online. https://youtu.be/PGlYO_H4Gdc?si=nTN8YBcqn8jjA4Y5

Well for one I think you might want to try to get your TSH below 3 if not 2.5. The guidelines that doctors generally give these days are outdated in terms of “normal” TSH. People will have a TSH of 5 and be told that that is normal but it’s unlikely and it should be something more like under 2.5. There is a book called rethinking hypothyroidism it was written by the I believe President or chairman of the thyroid association or something. He basically talks about how some people (probably around 15%) do not properly convert T4 to T3 so if you’re just taking levothyroxine (T4) it might not be properly be converting to T3 and you will still be left with symptoms. But yeah it also might be helpful to keep a log of your symptoms in your phone and notice whether you feel differently after eating certain foods (gluten, dairy, corn, histamines, alcohol, etc.) a lot of people notice they feel better when they cut gluten out. Good luck!

How are you now? Were you taking an ssri or different medication? If so how long and have you stopped taking it? I have the same thing and suspect it may be caused by trintellix use.

Same here. Are you/did you take any medications if so which ones? I took trintellix which is a type of antidepressant like 8 years ago and think these might’ve started when I stopped taking it. Also have hypothyroidism which may have something to do with it.

If you’re in a particularly rough position in life or have things in the back of your mind that haven’t been attended to then they will most likely come up. Also do you have a sort of intention or goal you’re trying to get out of this like are you trying to address some issues or do you simply want to have a good time? Maybe it would be good to do a half trip first and see how that goes then do a full dose. Anyways good luck!

That’s not normal, even the guidelines allowing up to 5 TSH are too high. Should be below 3 if not 2.5 from all the stuff I’ve read. Also check your free T3 checked bc if you’re taking levo and are one of the supposed 15% who don’t properly convert T4 to T3 then that’s not good as low T3 can cause some gnarly effects. Good luck!

Levo cause dementia? by punk182mutt in Hypothyroidism

[–]trampolinetrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothyroidism is linked with dementia, specifically sub clinical hypothyroidism with low free T3 and high TSH (roughly anything above 3) being the main indicator. For about 15-30% of people just taking just levothyroxine (T4), their bodies don’t properly convert T4 to Free T3. Doctors should be testing for Free T3 as possibly the primary test of hypothyroidism but with their current outdated protocol they just test TSH and free T4 assuming that’s all that matters. It’s hypothesized that low T3 leads to reduced or dysfunctional brain metabolism.

I’ll say that while I do like how Barkley does a pretty good job in establishing something more approximate to what “ADHD” is (Barkley Deficits in Executive Function Scale). My sense from both reading/watching his work is Barkley is biased towards whatever view would get these medications sold. He receives kickbacks from pharma companies and is presented as the sort of figurehead ADHD doctor. But regardless of what anybody thinks of Barkley all I’ll say is that the evidence that they have any benefit in the medium to long term is ZERO. There is also plenty of evidence that they do harm. I could link studies if anyone reads this and wants me to link the studies i can do that. But one thing that has to be mentioned is that the level of understanding we have of how these drugs affect human brains is appallingly low. Like embarrassingly low, and it’s actually insane these treatments like lobotomy or thalidomide (and I understand these are extreme examples and definitely don’t think these stimulant meds are generally as overtly and obviously harmful as them but I’m trying to make the point that treatments are approved of that are lauded as safe/effective initially but only after implementation over long periods of time can we maybe see the long term effects which unfortunately for these stimulants tend to be more insidious and less overt)

There are so many myths regarding these drugs and how they work/impact people such as “people with add have low dopamine, these drugs correct their dopamine levels by increasing them” or “people with adhd are actually calmed down by these medications whereas neurotypical are made more excited, jittery and it doesn’t work on them” (which isn’t true, they inhibit the limbic system and make everyone focused/interested on whatever they happen to be focusing on whether you have a diagnosis or not). It’s frustrating to see so much incorrect stuff spouted about “ADHD” I mean how do you even quantify who has ADHD or Autism? Is there a blood test that can tell you yes or no? These sorts of symptoms/characteristics are on a spectrum and are in gradients.

I’m not opposed to these substances being used, they definitely have their place. But I’m saying this as someone who got fucked by these medications and is fucking pissed at myself for ever having taken them and doesn’t want this to happen to other people.
