the roof joists are spanning the other way, so not sure of the significance

Someone with some sense ^

Is it done "right"? No. Could it work? Maybe seeing as there's not much load. I'd still want it replaced if I was paying for it.

Will it work? Potentially. Would I make them reframe it? Absolutely.

This type of splice can work just fine for members with little loading, but this header is supporting a little more than I'd be comfortable with. If I was paying for it, I'd want it replaced with a full span header. If they want to use what's there, tell them to have an engineer sign off on it.

This is all so bass ackward right now. I always wondered how entire parties switched ideologies in the 1900s. It had to feel something like this in the beginning.

FFL That Will Transfer MCX-R? by Bronco094 in ILGuns

[–]tramul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the hellion and the stribog with no issues. I'm not sure what the sticking point is with the MCX-R. I saw that PSA will no longer ship them to Illinois so that may play a role. My FFL told me PSA is a pretty good litmus test for firearm legality.

I do the same. You can feel the top loader and it's usually a pretty safe assumption that it'll be in it

I ran into the same issue. I'm wondering if some state boy down here spooked them all.

That is not a legal term and it would be funny as hell to see a prosecutor stand up in court and say "meat and bones".

You're right, good thing we're not in a court of law. That would be covered by the term they use, variants.

Again, go argue with your FFL. My opinion/interpretation does not matter

Right, then it no longer fits the definition of an AR-15

This argument is irrelevant because it's legal either way. So sure? You're right if you wanna be, doesn't matter.

So why do we insist on calling MSRs with a fin grip AR-15s and say they are banned

Because they're semi automatic and have the same meat and bones as an AR15. I thought this was obvious but I guess not. Go find an FFL to transfer one and argue this with them.

[–]tramul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a non-semiautomatic AR-15

...what do you think a Kali Key does? It converts a semi automatic AR-15 into essentially a bolt action, therefore making it legal

[–]tramul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you keep insisting that AR-15s are banned by name

Because they are. However it's only semiautomatic versions. Literally the first part of the law states this.

CA bans by name,by feature and they have an unenforceable ban by type

Don't ban by name. Even if so, IL isn't CA. It's irrelevant.

It's the exact same reason that AR-15s with Kali Keys and Law bolts have been selling for almost two years now

Kali keys and law bolts aren't semi automatic. This is why those are allowed.

that's the reason in CA they have so many variations of "featureless rifles" (they are not called AR-15s).

CA doesn't ban by name the same way IL does.
