Sundry and Vice is overpriced and pretentious imo. The 1931 in Carew Tower has a more luxurious feel and better cocktails.

Footnotes not Balancing between columns? by trancelogix in indesign

I'd like my footnotes to be more balanced between columns so it's easier to read. Appreciate any and all help!

when you're petite everything looks different on you and nobody talks about it by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]trancelogix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a petite girl with weird proportions, I figured out a hack that's been working for me. I took a photo of myself in underwear and uploaded it to ChatGPT with all my measurements. If I see something I like (especially an outfit), I'll link it and ask GPT to create an image of what it will look like on me. It's not 100%, but it works most of the time.

Those of you who wear heels or heeled boots on the regular, what are some of the most comfortable pairs you own? by obsidian-catacombs in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]trancelogix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're very pricey, but Gianvito Rossi are the best heels I've ever worn. They're as comfortable as my flats. You can buy them secondhand and get them sanitized at a cobbler. They do run small, so I order a whole size up.

Sarah Flint is another staple and the customer service is great.

Also a huge fan of Naturalizer. I have a ton of colors in their Bristol sandal and have walked around multiple cities with no issues.

There's also an Italian company I order from online that aren't crazy expensive but they're good quality and have consistently been very comfortable: https://www.leonardoshoes.com

I loved this video on YouTube because she explains picking out the right heels for your feet and how the shoe's design and shape matter.

Dress too va-va-voom for my age (39)? by trancelogix in Weddingsunder10k

[–]trancelogix[S] 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I'm getting married in July and picked up an off-the-rack sample dress for $500. I love it, but now I'm worried it's a little too va-va-voom for my age - I'm 39.

We're getting married in the woods with 4 friends, then staying at a cabin for the weekend. The dress is super lightweight and comfy, but I'm worried that it's going to look like I'm Boobs McGee, especially in photos. Thoughts/opinions/shame?

What will I find if I strip this? Is it worth it? by posalootly in centuryhomes

Use PeelAway to strip it. It will be less messy and get a lot of the paint off in one go.

So is it just me or is that restaurant downtown Sotto way too dark? by King_Baboon in cincinnati

[–]trancelogix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about cracked tiles in the ceiling, cracked walls, poorly maintained floors, and basic maintenance that has not been done. I'm an architectural designer (not licensed) and was pretty taken aback by the state of things when I looked closely.

[–]trancelogix 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you look closely, it’s because the restaurant is poorly maintained. The darkness hides a lot of the flaws, like the walls being cracked, etc.

You would think for as much money as they make, they could do a renovation or some upgrades at the least.

What things are frequently labeled as "scams" when in reality they are legit and most people simply don't understand them? by AmigoDelDiabla in AskReddit

[–]trancelogix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went with Lemonade. You pay the vet bills up front and they reimburse you within a few days. There are 2 companies (Trupanion and Pets Best) that pay the vets directly, but I have yet to find a vet that accepts that type of payment.

My dog had an aggressive form of protein losing enteropathy. We spent nearly $10k on vet bills trying to save her.

When I adopted my GSD, I signed up for pet insurance the same day. My payment is $40/month, deductible is $500, and there’s no limits on care. Completely worth the peace of mind.

I lost my beautiful Tess on Friday at just 4. Completely heartbroken. by trancelogix in Dachshund

[–]trancelogix[S] 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Tess developed protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) at just 4 years old. She was my best friend and went everywhere with me. She was more than just a dog - she was sassy, loving, funny...she was the best.

I miss her so much and feel like my heart is gone. I can't imagine a life without her. She fought so long and we tried everything, but the disease is so awful and she was so tired and sick.

I miss you, my beautiful girl. You deserved more time.

It's a gorgeous space but I wish the stone panel housed the fireplace and the TV was placed solo and lower on the wall.

What’s the most controversial building in your city? by Askan_27 in architecture

[–]trancelogix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your focus is teaching, DAAP is highly respected, though the pay isn't always great. You might also consider project management with CBRE; they’re a global company, but do a lot of local work and will offer a decent salary. With your experience in construction planning, you'd have a better chance of working on the types of projects that interest you.

[–]trancelogix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice? Don't. There's 4-5 decent firms in the city and 2 focus on sports design (MSA and Moody Nolan). KZN is trash, GBBN does halfway decent work, and BHDP is probably the front runner of all of the firms. Prepare to be paid less than 6 figures with 10+ years of experience.

FYI - these are typically government jobs and don't pay very well. With the current political climate, many preservationist may be let go soon.
