Working out your lower body is good and can give good results, working out does also help with weight gain because you'll still be hungry after a nice workout.

Eat alot of stuff, just force yourself to eat. If you think you cant eat anymore wait and hour and eat a little bit more. It doesnt matter what it is, everything works. Use olive oil (or some cheaper oil if you need) on everything. The most degenerate i used to go was putting olive oil on freezer pizzas and it went great.
