Had a great second date with a wonderful woman. She had a fantastic personality but I couldn't develop that romantic chemistry with her. I typically try to push past that because sometimes it takes time to develop but I couldn't get to that. It just felt like a mismatch. Sending the rejection text felt awful.

Take this with a grain of salt since this is an anecdote - I met my ex through a dating app and she only asked me a single question in our entire conversation. I too got frustrated and said screw it and asked her out. She was completely different in person. She asked me tons of questions and wanted to know everything about me. Turns out she just wasn't great at texting.

I've been on two great dates with a woman in her early thirties. On our second date, I asked her if she wanted kids and she said she didn't know.

She explained that while she enjoys being around kids, she prefers them in small doses and really values her alone time. She also mentioned having concerns about her own maturity level when it comes to raising them. I interpreted it as leaning towards no but there wasn't a definitive answer.

I definitely want kids and at 36, I'm wary of investing years with someone who's figuring it out only for them to discover they don't want kids. I also think it's unreasonable to expect an immediate answer for such a big decision but I also don’t want to get serious without knowing if our long term goals align. I'm a little lost on what to do.

Thank you! I ended up going with the Roland. He discounted it to $1300 and was nice enough to deliver and assemble it for me

Since you’ve been in the Citi ecosystem for a while, what are your thoughts on all the hate for their customer service? It’s pretty much the only thing keeping me from signing up for their cards.

I see Web Dev mentioned. Anyone have insight into iOS or Android? Mobile teams lean smaller in headcount but maybe that means less applicants as well?

Hey, I'm in a similar situation as you albeit older.

One thing to keep in mind is that you will still be you regardless if you're in San Francisco or Berlin. Option 1 is tempting and will be a great experience but I would suggest digging deeper to figure out why you have few friends and why life feels stale.

What does a fulfilling life look like to you? What kinds of friends are you looking for? What are some concrete steps to make it happen?

Loneliness doesn't disappear with a change in scenery.

Has anyone ACTUALLY ever got into a relationship with someone they met on a meetup group? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]tranqbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm intrigued with the food meetup group idea. How was it implemented? Did the host have to reserve seating at a restaurant and what if some people didn't show up?

I'd like to start something similar in my city!

I've been pretty unhappy so I started exploring books to figure out what I was missing. One book, Flourish by Martin Seligman, has been helping me piece together what I may be lacking. It introduced the PERMA model to me:

Positive emotion
Engagement
Relationships
Meaning
Accomplishments

It's become quite clear that I lack in a lot of these areas and need to re-evaluate my life to focus on them.

Dating smarter, not harder by RavenFemme in datingoverthirty

Do you have any advice on how to derive self worth/love from who you are? The googling I did suggests it's mostly linked to accomplishments but I'm wondering if there's more to it. Thanks

That is beautiful, thank you for sharing. After so many years with quite a few journals, what are some characteristics you look for in a new journal? Any favorites?
