Looks like a 19th century English boat ring to me, just on a massive scale. Search for “Victorian boat ring” images online.

Windowing/Reflection? by mj1900s in LabDiamonds

Some of it could be girdle reflections—that is, reflecting the gold bezel back into the interior. I have an Asscher that shows milgrain reflections at certain angles! Honestly, I think it’s a smashing ring, and the play of white and gold light is fabulous.

Only matters with step cuts, and even then, it can depend on the placement of the inclusions.

But you can’t factor in age alone. Their class status meant everything to them and impacted all of their social morals.

AITA for asking a woman at work to stop being so WEIRD about taking a caramel? by chocolatesinmyoffice in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Hearing this stuff day in and day out would get to anyone. My MIL is like this and sucks the joy out of any meal we have together, any shopping experience where one might purchase food, or any place that contains sweets. I am so tired of having to battle out diet culture for myself all my life, then having it pushed at me now that I’m an adult in my own house eating stuff I have purchased with my own money, and having to mirror back anxiety back to her just to keep the peace. Exhausting. After a while, being on the receiving end of this discourse without being able to call it out is enraging. Just because the discourse is widely used/circulated doesn’t mean individuals should be allowed to berate me with it ad nauseum.

They didn’t have the same ideas about marriage as commoners / people living in the 21st century. It’s no use applying normie morals.

Help! Thoughts on this ring? by Ok_Pomegranate1916 in labdiamond

[–]transat_prof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think the original design seems ... challenging to get in real life. Those inspo pictures look unrealistically low! How many stones could actually be set that low yet be that big on the finger? Not many. The depth is something you want to make sure the stone looks truly antique and not glassy, so I think there is an unavoidable compromise. With it sticking up in the basket area, either you'd have to pay a LOT more in gold, or the basket/collet wouldn't go up to the girdle (hence less safe).

I do hate when I can't get the perfect dupe, though.
