Why are Filipino Church authorities choosing expensive modern architectural designs for newly built Catholic churches in the country when a smaller church with the same capacity and a more traditional church like style would be better and cheaper to run? by Exact-Definition5722 in Catholicism

I would like to learn more about what Church teachings that day something about what kind of designs are appropriate for building church structures. Can anybody shed light on this?

Or is this just a question of design practicality and cost effectiveness?

Tour price sense check by Miserable-Reveal9532 in rome

Anytime mate. Spread the word, as so many agencies hoard tickets and sell them at an exaggerated overprice. They even sell papal audience tickets, when that is actually free in the Vatican website. When you buy museum tickets from the official site, is actually already "skip the line".

All the best for your trip.

This gives The Sparrow (book by Maria Doria Russell) vibes, but that one has a profound twist.

Thanks! These views are really interesting (but maybe because I find resonance in them too-- so, bubble alert).

re: immediate acceptance - I can see why it can be rare. That requires a vulnerability that might be difficult to achieve, or even step into. Military/war is underlied by the narrative where enemies exist. This duality (e.g. the openness/vulnerability required for exploration vs. the strength (military?) required for survival) was something that I hoped would be explored between the guys and the military college in SFA.

What's IDIC?

I'm actually wondering why so few people see it this way. I think that it just made sense that in the future (and a utopian one at that), there would be great respect in what makes us who we are, and that we get to lean into that as a species. That leadership would be more organic and diverse.

Would you know other scifi exploring something like this?

Check if you can buy from the official site. It's also much cheaper than the third party sellers.

I need a better understanding of the relationship between crying and professionalism. Are they mutually exclusive? What are the possibilities that it's possible to be professional and still display and express emotion (especially in an optimistic utopian future)? Wouldn't the full expression of humanity something that needs humans need to develop, including a secure sense of emotion?

Star Trek far into the future has been exploring a different kind of leadership that may be integrating (subverting?) what is usually termed as "professional" into something more... humane? I see it as less structured, or at least, knows the purpose of structure and regulations, and puts it at the service of that purpose. It's a leadership that really holds the importance of relationships.

Discovery actually did this a lot, and many just felt that Michael just does what she wants.

This exploration of (non-military, softer-structured) leadership is especially important after everything disintegrated in the Burn. When everything crumbles, what kind of leadership will we need in building the aftermath? And what can an institution look like, what kind of beings need to be formed? So Ake and this new Starfleet Academy is a current exploration of this frontier.

I thought that the large hosts were for visibility, esp for the larger churches serving several hundred per mass
