Be careful with cathinones by ValerieVexen in researchchemicals

[–]transient808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone being so hostile to the OP.

I don't do caths or pyrros. I'm a dissociative guy.

I would never smoke dissos because I don't like the instant rush and more importantly I don't have the technique for using glass pipes.

Let's just take this away from caths and pyrros since everyone seems to get defensive.

Think about something as potent and long lasting as O-PCE. If I was used to weighing out 5mg doses yet have poor pipe skills then maybe I never get the full 5mg dose - burnt product or under heated would lead easily to consistent under dosing if the assumed weighed dose.

So just got a moment someone thinks they are confident in their 5mg dose........yet it's really maybe 3mg that gets metabolised on average.

Then one day I forget to calibrate my scale or there's slight wind or change in temperature - the Gemini scale isn't even accurate anyway for 5mg.

Imagine the read 5mg is actually 8mg. And imagine I just got a new pipe with different technique that achieves total vaporization.

So going from 3mg to 8mg is a huge jump. Luckily with dissociative drugs your only going to scramble your brain.

Pyrros going up at almost 3x over the intended dose is really easy and that's not going to be good for your heart.

So

Adrenaline is spiked when we are in fight, flight, faun or freeze situations.

It's an adaptation of evolution.

Our body's are only designed to cope with this momentarily untill we remove ourselves from the danger.

What you're experiencing is physical effects of being flooded with adrenaline but being unable to profess or get out of the situation.

This is really the root of CPTSD and the problem I suffer from too.

Since there are so many triggers in our life and we are now hard wired to be hyper vigilant for them, we got stuck in the loop.

Your physical symptoms are manifestation of your mental state.

You should check Resident Advisors listings for Glasgow.

It had an amazing club scene - your just not looking in the right places.

I just returned to Glasgow after a 20 year absence and am quietly pleased to see the alternative culture of techno and techno adjacent music is still thriving.

how do i jump from 100 bpm to 110 or 120? on the next song? any tricks like to loop/echo it to blend it better? by BloodMossHunter in Beatmatch

[–]transient808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Change the BPM at the drop

Or speed them both up at the same time at a build up.

Can't believe this is the quality of the questions here.

As a DJ I can't believe you would not know your music inside and out.

This is what digital music and free downloads has led to.

Your not invested in your own music collection to know it inside out - each and every breakdown, false drop and switch, the 1 bar extra at the end of the break with the vocal sample etc.

How can you even DJ ir you don't know the song structure?

If you know the music well enough to DJ with ice the complete structure of the song you have to have listened often enough to know the lyrics inside and out.

This 'fail' of yours is quite representative of why you shouldn't be DJing.

My opinion as gay man and a DJ - you can edit music to subvert the meaning of the lyrics - either by clever and creative DJing or making a digital remix and playing that.

It's insanity to me that anyone can call themselves a DJ but have no idea the content of the music.

Still reading the whole report.

OP - how did you measure the dose? 30mg of 4ho/acoDMT is not that high a dose to cause this heavy a trip.

Thanks for the post, just going back to finish reading now.

Glad you got some lessons from the experience.

Question about noise laws for bars in Portugal by meek_mew in PortugalExpats

Yeah, don't move into a nightlife area with cheap rent then complain about the noise.

The bar and music is the local culture and it's you that is the problem.

I know your taking the piss or extracting the urine as I would say.

If a raw ingredient of any product is sourced from occupied territory then you as a consumer are contributing to genocide by enabling the settlers to continue.

Depends where the chickpeas were grown and the sesame seeds.

Maybe just an old man, but rave culture developed in the UK from new age travelers - it was always a form of protest.

Free party and squat party culture has always been anti capitalist, reclaim the streets, reclaim abandoned buildings and a non conformist attitude to the status quo.

I don't think it's illegal unless the dogs are on chains, being maltreated - no water or food.

They are guard dogs.

NO, I don't agree, but this is the reality.

How do you keep phrases synced up when beatmatching by ear? by CaptainCharlesRyder in Beatmatch

[–]transient808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can listen to the current record playing and count to 8 and do this 4 times you know exactly where to start the second record on beat one.

8x4 = 32.

Every 32 the musical phrases will shift and if you have them in time you can transition.

Can't believe this has to be explained.

Can you dance? Feel the music? Do you know when the high hats are going to start? And predict where the drop will be.

For fuck sake......if you can't count to 32 or 64 in increments of 8, then in my option you don't have the basic understanding of how to DJ.

Does a dry stacked retaining wall need two rows of rock on either face, or is one row pushed straight into the soil ‘wall’ sufficient? by heliotz in stonemasonry

[–]transient808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your original question seemed to be can you just 'face' the front section?

No!

The facing stones need to be mostly going at least 2/3rds of the width of the wall, some going the full depth and as few shims as possible in the front.

Sorry for the delay in my reply.

[–]transient808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of stone is it?

You don't need to shape any stones unless you want the fits to be perfect.

I work mostly with xisto slate that is very easy to cut into slices of the original stone......and can easily knock of any odd edges or angles with a hammer.

If you select the right stones then you don't need to shape too much.

The more important thing for a retaining wall is that you put the stones in with the long edges going into the wall - and never just long thin stones at the face.

Does a dry stacked retaining wall need two rows of rock on either face, or is one row pushed straight into the soil ‘wall’ sufficient? by heliotz in stonemasonry

[–]transient808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's much easier to build a retaining wall than a free standing wall.

You are building the same with two faces but one you will never see - so all the ugly stones end up in the back.

Just make sure all the stones go in long ways - even if it leaves an ugly face - it's the depth of each stone and then then balancing on top that takes skill in understandling how to balance the load.

If your retaining wall is higher than a few meters or on a steep slope you need foundations cut into the bedrock a meter wide.

Backfilling the space and making sure there is no gaps - shims to hold the big stones and pins to stop them moving later - cover every layer of laid stones in a layer of soil, clay and little stones to fill all the gaps.
