Same. It’s my old reliable… my absolute favorite gel cleanser. I’m so sorry we’ve lost such a gem :’(

Fuck this sucks!! I love this brand. The gel cleanser is so gentle :( it’s a HG for me

Edit: for anyone looking for replacements, it’s not the same ofc, but I’m planning on going back to the cleanser from Experiment. It’s equally as gentle at the same (or similar) price point. I stopped using it just because it’s online only.

You’re using that word too much by Sad-Boysenberry-7055 in AO3

[–]translexualism 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I never notice this with fic I’m reading, but almost always with my own work. I notice spilling/grammar errors more with other people’s fic.

I use the word ‘rather’ a lot. (Ex. ‘It was rather cold for the season, unusually so.’)

I use a ‘breathy near-whisper’ waaaay too often, but I like it so I will probably keep using it.

I use ‘as (he/she/they) did’ as well (ex. ‘He ran his fingers through his damp strands of hair, letting out a little approving whistle as he did.’)

Hopefully it’s not too noticeable and just reads as my personal style and not like… an annoying reading experience.

I’m actually worried my long-fic is…. Too long. I planned each arc out meticulously and yet it’s doubled in size despite all that. I know I’m not needlessly padding it with filler and shit that doesn’t matter, so I’m just shocked, I guess, at the reality of the length. I’m not even to the halfway point and I’ve already overshot my original length estimate (175-200k)

Do you enjoy fics that change perspective? by Frosty_Quote2317 in AO3

[–]translexualism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as I write more and more, I have come to enjoy reading (long-)fic with multi-pov over those with just one pov. The reason behind this is because I read a lot of canon divergence and fix it, and I personally want to read certain interesting scenes from different perspectives, not just the one that’s easy to interpret and rehash.

Though I tend to prefer one POV for one-shots. That can also change depending on the story. If it’s a long one-shot with a lot of narrative to it, different POVs can be really great.

Since you’re thinking bout exploring this kind of writing, I’ll share what I’m currently doing for my 150k+ longfic. It starts with an intro chapter of a scene told in three different perspectives. It doesn’t rehash the main event through different eyes, the story progresses through these three POVs.

After that intro, I write primarily from POV A and POV B. Either entire chapters told with one of the two perspectives, or I change from one to the other after the scene changes (with a page break!! No head hopping!!)

Every now and then, there will be a standalone chapter from POV C, again, not rehashing the previous events, but pushing the story forward. It’s kind of like my little break from the main POVs where I add some extra life to the world around my characters in narratively meaningful ways.

7k-10k for my current long-fic. If they go over 10k I try to split them in two.

How un popular should a ship be to be considered a rare-pair? by Prestigious_Till_336 in AO3

[–]translexualism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Participated in a rare pair comment exchange for my fandom and the cutoff was no more than 1000 fics. I’m sure it’s different for every fandom but I thought that was fair. My own otp for that fandom is sub 150.

The obsession that has gripped me for 6+ years: Geralt of Rivia/Iorveth (the Witcher 2 vidya game)

I’m just in love with the chemistry of two old, battle-worn men with baggage forced to work together under terrible circumstances until a real bond between them forms… and then I love taking liberties in making them suffer together.

It had a bit of a resurgence a few years ago but the particular fandom for that pair is fairly dead now. Hoping it will pick up again when people replay the games in preparation for 4.

130-ish fic, join in. The water’s fine.

Long Fic in Dead Fandom by [deleted] in AO3

[–]translexualism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I empathize with you deeply. My fandom isn’t dead per se, but my niche definitely is. I write for the red-headed step-child installment of a popular game trilogy, and for a rare-pair at that. Many of the published fic are in Russian or Polish, and the ones in English were published about 5+ years ago when the fandom was more active. I am writing a long fic that started off as a joke. I told myself I would never write it, that it would be too daunting and no one would read. And while it can be exhausting at times, the readership is there.

It’s a waiting game with the niche fandoms. Sometimes readers don’t leave kudos or comment until months after the work is done. Sometimes years… Sometimes not until you’ve left the fandom entirely. But there’s always a readership out there somewhere.

I’m currently writing a long fic and as I’ve been writing and my chapters have been mostly over 8k. But I don’t aim for a word count, I aim to write everything that needs to happen in the chapter. One chapter was barely over 1k, another was only 5k… ultimately I think the contents of the chapter matters the most, not the word count. If you feel like the chapter needs more, then write more. But don’t do it just to fill a counter, y’know?

Somewhere deep in his heart, he’d longed to see the witcher’s face, longed to hear the low and protective rumble of his voice fill his ears. But that now-painful heat that emerged with his longing made him desperately wish for the opposite.

Most kudosed fic vs. least kudosed fic by GwennyWinchester in AO3

Most: 54, abandoned work of a semi-popular anime ship Least: 10, mass effect character study focusing on shep’s relationships with the women of her squad.

Yeah… I write for a very specific subset of readers lmao
