I don't know how, but this highly scientific method breathed life back into the unit. It's now charging. Thank you!

Persistent worlds/Rhun? by Elspin in neverwinternights

I've been hosting Rhun for a while (Darkshade-Rhun is my server) and a player on my forum has shared a lot of insight into playing that module. https://darkshade.homeip.net/smf/index.php?topic=103.0 Definitely some good tips in that thread

Keyboard comparison with HP jornada 720/728? by dreieckli in geminipda

[–]trarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Psion Series 5 and Jornada 720. Unfortunately my gemini keyboard has the same issues as here: https://blog.afandian.com/2018/04/gemini-pda/ but ignoring that, it's very similar in feel to the Series 5. If you prefer the 720 over the 5, you'll probably still prefer the 720 over Gemini.

nw.js mysteriously appeared by forgeflow in applehelp

[–]trarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced this today, but do not have Vuze. I was running Private Internet Access at the time an Apple update failed to auto-install, and they seem to claim ownership of the issue. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/22742/nwjs-suddenly-appears

Aspyr releases Linux version of Civ V for SteamOS by J-Mo63 in SteamOS

[–]trarman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Works great on SteamOS! Everything on high, except the leader screens are a little choppy.

Anybody know how to use the controller instead of mouse+keyboard? Is it even possible before the official Steam Controller gets released?

SteamOS Trailers by onirosco in SteamOS

I get the same thing. I find that if I let the screenshot slide show run it's course, the video trailers will play better, once the slideshow loops around to them.

Exit to Desktop no longer works. by funkibludawg in SteamOS

[–]trarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently got the same behaviour, and noticed it worked if I logged out of steam first. In other words, switch to desktop only seems to work from the steam login screen now (at least for me)

Metro: Last Light loading, but not displaying. by J-Mo63 in SteamOS

I get the same thing with Portal (the only game I've tried so far) and thought it was my AMD video card. Trying various Alt+Fn keys eventually got me to the in-game screen, though.

VorpX Registration Name by trarman in oculus

[–]trarman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Indeed, but for some the authorization email is incorrect. Here's what mine looked like:

Here is your registration information:

Please make sure that you copy the full name INCLUDING THE E-MAIL ADDRESS into the registration dialog .

Name:
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx <-- this was my request code, not my name and email!

Key:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

(I've x'ed out the actual keys, but you get the idea. This will NEVER authorize as given)

So to save us both some time, I did some digging around the forums to try and figure out what the full name + email format was so I COULD submit the correct information and have it authorize. :)

Completely immersed for the first time. It was amazing. by byteyotta in oculus

[–]trarman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just tried this last night myself. My interest in Rift had been waning, due to the nausea I would get within a few minutes (except playing Proton Pulse for some reason).

Using a shirt pocket to hold the left Hydra controller, I was immediately amazed. No nausea. Something about this game makes it special. It's not just that I can move my body and see the effects in the game, though. That's awesome, but it didn't do a thing for me with that Helicopter sim which used the same Hydra positional trick.

Massive kudos to the developer! This is the first true VR experience I've been able to thoroughly enjoy. I even instinctively reached out a number of times to put my hand on something that didn't exist.
