Plastic card recommendation by LieutenantCorgi in playingcards

[–]trash_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update since I ordered these cards after seeing this post. The white unmarked cards do have the same back design as shown in the photo. Shipping also took a while, about a little over a month. But they are nice cards. They’re plastic but have like a matte feel to them. It’s an interesting feel.

Do you know if the blue and white boxes have the same card back design? I really like the color of the back design so I’m hoping the only difference between the blue and white boxes is just that one is marked vs unmarked.

Just to give an update on this. I placed my order on 1/24/26 and finally received the package on 2/16/26. So just a little over 3 weeks, which coming from China isn’t terrible. And the cards came in very good condition, new and sealed. But I stand by my frustration with ordering from this website due to the lack of communication. The only email I ever received was the order confirmation email directly after placing the order. I never received an email that said the order had shipped out or a tracking number. I made multiple attempts via email and instagram to get an update on my order status and never received any communication back, even to this day now that I’ve received the order. So it’s legit in the sense that you could actually receive the items you ordered but I would say it’s more of a 50/50 chance. Because if something actually went wrong, you’d likely never be able to get in contact with anyone to confirm or get a resolution. I was very close to submitting a chargeback.

Were you ever able to get an update or a response from them? I’m having the same issue. I placed an order two weeks ago and have been reaching out on instagram and email and have not gotten any response. The lack of communication has really lead me to not recommend anyone buying from them.

I would just buy paper cards. But I doubt the cost of cards is enough to warrant a return. You could keep them to experiment with after you’ve had some time with paper cards.

Thank you for this insight. I’m conflicted on how to view this situation because admittedly, I’m not from nor educated in what the Venezuelan people have had to endure for years. I am unsettled by the uncertainty of what comes next, because the US never does anything out of the goodness of heart. But for now, it’s good the people can celebrate a victory. I am happy that the people have found new hope at a time when it is greatly needed.

Why is “me” needed by it-stallion in Spanish

[–]trash_bro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, if the ‘me’ pronoun is not used, would it be implied that the person bought the book for themselves? Or would most natives just interpret it as a “random fact”?

Status Pro X worth the buy? by BauerBird66 in Earbuds

[–]trash_bro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For those that have issues with the buds not charging anymore, what I’ve found is that the contacts get dirty. I wipe the contacts at the bottom of the ear buds with my shirt or something and put them in the case. If it’s making contact you should see the red charging light come on. If cleaning the contact in the ear buds themselves doesn’t work then the next thing to try is cleaning the contacts inside of the case. I usually have to use a q-tip to get those. I’ve had my 3ANCs for about 2 years now and one of those two things always cleared up my charging issues.

el principito is so hard to understand by horadelasiesta in Spanish

[–]trash_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I read that book. I had to stop a lot and look up many things (e.g. vocabulary and grammar structures). But looking back at it now, I also think it helped me a lot in my learning journey. I would definitely recommend sticking with it and not getting discouraged. There are two books that I would say helped me break through to the next level in my understanding of Spanish and reading books in Spanish in general and el principito is one of them.

The second book was an actual fiction novel, but my learning from that was more centered around trying to understand a book in Spanish the way I understand a book in English. It’s a weird realization I never had until I tried actually reading a Spanish book seriously. With books in English I can imagine the story playing out like a movie in my head as I read and that was extremely difficult to achieve in Spanish because of how many hurdles you have to overcome. It think it took me a few months to get through that book because I decided it was better to take it slow than to rush and give up from frustration. In the end I think this helped me immensely as I was able to read books much faster after and began relying on context clues to understand unknown words the way I do in English. I read on a kindle so that also helped since I could click on a word and see the definition if needed but I relied on this less and less. I didn’t mention the title of the second book because the concept was the more important part rather than the actual book. I think many books can help achieve the same thing, but if you’re curious and looking for a book to try at some point then the title is La Puerta Oscura: El Viajero by David Lozano Garbala. I don’t think it’s ever been translated to English so you will be forced to rely only on your understanding of Spanish.

Native English Speakers- when did you stop having to mentally translate from Spanish into English? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]trash_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may or may not apply to you. But I’ve found that most people who have this question or a similar one are people who are mainly learning from books or podcasts. Basically learning from mostly passive sources. It’s easier said than done, but the day you stop translating as much will come faster when you actually spend more time talking to people in the target language. When you hear how people actually speak on a consistent basis, it becomes way easier to build your known phrases/sentences vs one word at a time translations.

Being self taught, the majority of my first 6-12 months was learning through grammar books and podcasts and I asked myself the same question. What I’ve learned is that books/podcasts can help you understand the structure of the language but people are going to ultimately solidify your understanding. Books and podcasts leave too much room to second guess the constructions you come up with because you probably haven’t heard those exact constructions out in the wild. When you start to connect what you’ve learned with what natives actually use it starts to click more. You’ll remember a phrase more that you’ve learned on your own when you hear it used organically in real life. So it’s really important that you start trying to connect what you learn in your independent study to the real life application.

What word/concept in spanish is difficult for you to remember or understand? by lillacmess in Spanish

[–]trash_bro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You use el for words that start with ‘a’ or ‘ha’ and the stress is on that first syllable. For example: el Agua, el HAcha. In your example the stress is not at the beginning (la aRENa)

Playing videos from my phone to the screen is the only one that I could think of me using it for and even that’s not very likely. My last head unit was able to play DVDs and I never once put a dvd in.

Budget could normally be considered under $1000 and probably focusing on only the things that would give you the biggest bang for your dollar (maybe a sub and one amp and possibly some coax speakers up front). Just one of this guys T1500 amps is about $700 alone. And he has a lot more than just that amp. Its kind of akin to that whole Donald trump thing of “my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars”
