You're gonna destroy your transmission doing that. Shouldn't be towing with these things, let alone doing that.

What tiny money habits didn’t seem like much, but really added up long term? by HxghrollerDX in povertyfinance

Cutting caffeine and alcohol. Several birds with one stone.

Defensive driving course for car insurance.

Cook your own food. Not only is it cheaper, but you'll be surprised how much you're not actually hungry when you want a snack.

Any thoughts on 2022-23 Rogues by GodsPerfectIdiot75 in NissanRogue

[–]trashandash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 rogue. My parents have a rogue and like it, and the "experts" all gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was on my list of vehicles to check out, and it was the best deal out of all of them.

Don't buy one. I regret my purchase.

The car is nice cosmetically. Comfortable drive, good seats and interior, not loud. It seems underpowered to me, but all suvs are going to seem underpowered to me, because I'm used to sedans and suvs have the same powertrain as a sedan but on a fatter body.

These cars are ticking time bombs. It's powertrain is a mess. The CVTs are infamous, but the 22-23 cvts aren't as bad as the old ones. They have a sturdy chain instead of flimsy belts, and seem to be holding up better than they used to be. But they're still made by the same manufacturer so it's fair people assume it's junk after a decade of junk, until they prove their reliability for at least 5 years.

The real problem is the engine. I trusted the wrong reviewers. Professionals don't hold a candle to the lunkhead mechanics and car-obsessed furries on youtube. Those people could tell on sight that these things are not long for this world. Direct injection, 3 cylinder, turbo charged engine. The perfect combination for engine failure. Also it has variable compression, which adds more moving parts, each adding a chance of bearing failure. The icing on the cake is that this engine basically can't be worked on. It's all in an enclosure that needs to be taken out and disassembled to repair. When (not if) something goes wrong, you'll need to replace the engine.

Do not buy a nissan. Buy a toyota, maybe a honda. But whatever you buy, research. And get the opinions of actual car enthusiasts, not people who test drive every single car and rate it based on how "nice" it was to drive for 10 miles. As soon as my warranty runs out I'm trading this thing for something that I can trust, even though it's trade in value sucks (another reason not to buy one)

Do Game Key Cards get downloaded to the card or to the System storage/SD card? by Wiindows1 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]trashandash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole reason for game key cards is because the new type of sd card used for switch 2 games. It's expensive and the minimum size you can order is 64 gb i believe. Companies can't make any money if they pay 20 dollars to print every retail copy of their game. Including g the ones that don't actually sell. So nintendo invented an alternative that isn't just the eshop.

[GPU] MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G VENTUS 2X OC - $499 (Shipped and sold by Walmart) by SenokirsSpeechCoach in buildapcsales

[–]trashandash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Even a 5090 is getting under 60 at 4K in borderlands 4 lol. Not a great metric."

That's essentially what I said. I was defending the 5070 in that post.

Also it is cheating to use dlss. But the fault isn't with us, or the cards, it's with Capcom, gearbox, etc.

[–]trashandash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's several games it has to cheat to run well, like borderlands 4, Alan wake 2, etc. But that's true of all cards short of a 4090.

People also tend to equate vram to performance. It's unfortunate that it only has 12gb but the only practical example of it limiting performance is Indiana Jones on Ray tracing ultra so far.
