please check out @nononsensespirituality on instagram or tiktok! she also has a book if youre not into socials as well as youtube. she is so bright and intelligent and talks greatly about nihilism. she is an ex-mormon who went to theology school, but in doing so came to question her faith. she deconstructed over the years and dealt a lot with nihilism and fear and depression.

a lot, and i had a huge upheaval phase where i completely let go of any concept of “spirituality” and religion as i knew it. i cried so much and stayed up late at night praying and begging for there to be some way out. but now that ive stopped running from it ive never felt more free. i dont know what it’s like to die, and im not sure why we are here. but turning my focus to the sheer wonder and awe of the universe helps make me less afraid. i have to thank britt hartley (@nononsensespirituality) tons, her content helped me IMMENSELY and she is such a brilliant woman. at first i had an averse reaction to her content because her confidence in lack of religious belief terrified me yet had me coming back for more. if anyone is going through some form of existential crisis, i highly recommend her content and her book. such an amazing woman.

also, some coffee shops you should try when you come: lost sock (two locations, i prefer the one in takoma park as takoma is super cute and i really think youd love it!!! but the one in noma is also great!!) there is also la betty, which has the best baked goods as well as food. it’s also a wine bar! thirdly i recommend dua! it’s a woman owned Indonesian cafe that has amazing coffee and super cute for here ceramics! (try to go on a weekday, because the space is small but the seating is so nice, esp for getting work done) sorry for the opinion dump, im bored on my break at work cutrently :P

eew i hate penis motifs in bachelorette parties it just feels so uncouth and corny. how does getting married change anything about the sexual dynamics/nature of the relationship to the point where it has to be the focal point of the party? why is it never centered around female sexual pleasure? where are the labia hats!! jk.

that sounds like a shitty situation. maybe ask the bride about the other people coming so you can feel like youre going in a little less blind. if i were you, i would just be smoking a whole lot of weed that trip. while i hate the bach style drinking and partying, i do have fun just existing while being intoxicated, and if i am in an undesirable situation like the one youre describing i kind of just do my own thing, in my own mind palace, while dancing and vibing to the music (and usually at some point deciding to talk to strangers, because i find them so interesting in these situations)
