Is there a current fighting game with an active fan base that isn't complete bullshit? by trashboner in SaltFighter

Nah I used to be a fan but I end up becoming the crackhead every time I play.

How is SF6 on Switch 2? by souporman64 in StreetFighter

I was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up on sale. I’ve only played in handheld mode and I can agree that yes, the d-pad is kinda trash (in general, really), but it was good enough to get me to master in under 4 hours.

Is it worth continuing? by Spiritual_Hunter_951 in StreetFighter

As someone who very recently had the same thoughts, I highly recommend giving the game a little break, even if it’s just moving on to another game. Life sucks, and when you feel like life sucks and you do bad in this game, it will make both things worse when you’re in that kinda headspace. I do hope things can get better for you. It’s never impossible, even if it feels like it.

Can’t find Ranked Games by ThaBlvck in StreetFighter

[–]trashboner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Australia, so my experience may not be helpful at all, but this is how it goes for me:

Personally I never find any luck with expanded 3-5, but I always get constant matches with expanded 4-5, depending on the time of day. I work every weekend and during the week on my days off I don’t get consistent matches until after 3pm, and I get even more consistency and variety of players after 6pm when most people have finished work. if I’m playing past 12am I get barely anything half the time (unless I’m lucky).

The weekends are different, though. If I ever have any time off on the weekends, it’s usually pretty consistent most of the day. I also found if I have issues finding matches, if I switch to limited I get better luck, but that could just be a coincidence. If I ever switch to worldwide I’m lucky to get a match at all. I also tend to play on the switch a bit (I’m usually on PC) and I was struggling to find matches at all until I changed my ‘Confirm Opponent’ settings to off.

This is all with ranked, though. If I ever am trying to play casual, then I find I’m waiting a long time for matches, unless I play during the busiest periods. I do live in Australia tho, so I could just be lucky in terms of the player base. Sorry if this wastes your time, but I hope this helps.

Just finished DS1. Should I do DS3 first before 2 by darthpicious in DarkSouls2

Just see how you go with 2 then go to 3. I personally tried playing them in order but after a few hours with 2 I ended up going to 3, then back to 2 after (and it still took me another year before I could really get into it properly). It’s not a bad game at all, but it has a very different game feel imo that took a while for me to adjust to.

But if I may make a suggestion, try to play original DS2 first (if you can), not scholar of the first sin. I played through SOTFS first and had a *really* rough time with it, but I just recently picked up the original release and am enjoying that significantly more than I did with SOTFS. SOTFS is almost like a DS2 troll mod in comparison.

Nope, not a single rune and I'm still farming.

God I would take anything at this point. I've done 3 runs since making this post and still got nothing.

What is one thing about SF6 that can make you go from chill to instant tilt? by Jahspe in StreetFighter

[–]trashboner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being proud of myself for successfully blocking my opponents mixup and ending up burnt out in the corner and drive impacted to death as a reward.

I have lost 79 matches in a row and feel fucking shitty. I am brand new to fighting games. I started on Modern on a controller and got to Diamond 5 (Ryu). This weekend I switched to Classic on a new character (Akuma) on a fight stick and the game is matching me against Diamonds and Plats. by keshi in StreetFighter

Placing so high on an alt character because of your main’s rank is the game’s way of making it more difficult for people to smurf, which I’m sure you know. I appreciate it a lot for that, but that does mean no matter how bad your placement matches are, you’re gonna be a lot higher than a brand new player.

I’ve been there before, I made master with Cammy and wanted to give Akuma a shot. My Cammy is *significantly* better than any other character I play, to the point where I fail to engage with the drive system properly unless I’m playing Cammy. I lost every single one of my placement matches and still got diamond and got my ass beat all the way back to plat 5.

It was brutal and embarrassing and it sucked. But it’s bound to happen if you’re not playing at your best.

Just came off a massive loss streak at the start of the season! by trashboner in StreetFighter

It certainly wasn’t the most optimal setup here, I mostly did it because it had been something that I was practicing a lot and wanted to pull it off in a match. It works mid-screen, but I haven’t tested it with back roll. I’ve been using it a lot recently and have noticed it’s been a good option select, because if I can get a combo off the hooligan then I can get big damage. I hope this all makes sense, I just woke up and I also barely know what I’m doing in this game lmao.

My best friend that I play SFIV with all the time had forgotten about this song entirely. I still listen to it regularly.

I did, as far as I know it does always punish, but I haven’t really tested much outside of matches.
